What a fantastic day…it’s a long day, but you won’t be bored. Loved the boat ride up the river, it takes approx 1 hour, you are being rowed. Then lunch which was very nice and plenty to go round. The pergoda was very interesting and Minh was a fantastic story teller. The views from the cable car are spectacular. Just a word of warning, there are lots of steps involved and with the heat and humidity, it was quite overwhelming. I didn’t make it to the cave. My husband did, but he was exhausted. Make sure you have plenty of water, although there is shops where you can buy it. Minh gave us plenty
I recommend this trip as an alternative to Ninh Bin, more for the spiritual side, that brings deep calmness. It is about 1.5-2 hours drive from Hanoi plus one hour ride by boat to reach the Pagoda. I was lucky to have Minh as driver and guide. He is one of the best guides I had the chance to meet not only in Vietnam. He is really knowledgeable and passionate, and he is originally from that part of the country. Maybe this is why he knows more about that place.
