Full description
This is a 1-hour experience in Hanoi. It is run by Su Quan Roastery Tea & Coffee Experience, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Japanese craft classes are taught by practitioners who have usually done the craft for decades, and they teach it properly: calligraphy begins with how to hold the brush and grind the ink; pottery on the wheel produces a cup that is fired and posted to you weeks later; ikebana teaches the three-line structure of a Sogetsu or Ikenobo arrangement; indigo dyeing and washi papermaking are done in the workshops of the towns that specialise in them. Classes run one to three hours, materials are included, and most welcome children with a parent.

This was a great class. The instructor was very communicative prior to the class and the coffee company made sure I had detailed instructions on how to locate the shop. The class… it was educational, provided historical context and very hands on. It’s a must do. A little taste of all the most popular coffees and a sampling of wines. It’s definitely worth the money. The instructor and her helpers were pleasant, encouraging and fun. Definitely recommend!
Such a great activity with a cheerful and entertaining host. Simon made the workshop very enjoyable and involved everyone as a happy group. The information was comprehensive and easy to understand, the venue was warm and inviting and all participants appeared to have a very good time. Even the coffees we made were good. I would highly recommend this workshop to those who would like to learn more about the Vietnamese coffee scene and learn how to make the different coffees correctly.
I got the workshop with Mark, he was very knowledgable, answered all my questions kindly. Definitely recommended for someone interested in coffee and/or Vietnamese culture.

Pa was absolutely brilliant and made the group feel welcomed around one another. There was a big mix of nationalities but all enjoyed and she took the time to explain if people were unable to understand. Her information was very detailed and specific but she made the class fun to attend. I would highly recommend this class to solo travellers as well as groups. Thanks to the team behind the scenes also for making sure we had a clean and large space to work in.
Mark was an excellent and very knowledgeable host. Helped us to navigate to the location and taught us a lot about Vietnamese coffee. Also great quality coffee to be had here, with modern equipment to measure proportions properly.
Mark was a fabulous host explaining the different varieties of coffee and demonstrating how to make them, then allowing me to try too. It was interesting seeing the importance of quantity to make quality - and how a little can go a long way. I’m not a coffee fan as I’m a ‘tea’ person but I booked it out of curiosity and I’m glad I did. Very informative.

What an incredible experience!! It was fascinating to learn about the history of coffee in Vietnam as well as learning how to make the coffee’s! Pa was amazing and so helpful! She insured that every step was so well taught and left us with all the information we needed (not only in terms of coffee but travel in Vietnam generally) Definitely recommend!
