Full description
This is a 2-hour experience in Ho Chi Minh City. It is run by VIVA VIETNAM, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Japanese craft classes are taught by practitioners who have usually done the craft for decades, and they teach it properly: calligraphy begins with how to hold the brush and grind the ink; pottery on the wheel produces a cup that is fired and posted to you weeks later; ikebana teaches the three-line structure of a Sogetsu or Ikenobo arrangement; indigo dyeing and washi papermaking are done in the workshops of the towns that specialise in them. Classes run one to three hours, materials are included, and most welcome children with a parent.
The price covers Chocolate-making workshop, Introduction to the history of cacao in Vietnam, Guided tasting session of locally crafted chocolate and Materials for making chocolate bars or truffles. It does not cover Transportation to the studio and Meals, so budget for those separately. It was a cute activity. A fun way to spend an afternoon in Ho Chi Minh. We booked quite last minute so I’m not sure if that affected it, but our guide didn’t speak very good English meaning we weren’t able to get the history bit of chocolate in Vietnam which I was quite interested in. Our guide was still very lovely and super helpful all throughout! We enjoyed the process of making the chocolates and couldn’t believe how easy it was. Would have liked to be able to taste a few other types of chocolate or heard more about how the process can make different flavors etc. It ended up only being abo
Fantastic workshop. Jayson was amazing very friendly and helpful. He talked me through the procedure. it was fascinating going through the different processes to prepare the bean into edible chocolate. the staff were extremely patient and helpful. I enjoyed it all.
