This is a 3.5-hour experience in Ho Chi Minh City. It is run by Saigon Alley 101, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Japanese food tours work because the best places are small, unmarked and full of regulars, and a guide who orders for you opens them. An izakaya crawl covers yakitori, sashimi, karaage and the local pours of sake, shochu and highballs across three or four counters in an evening; a ramen walk explains the broths, tonkotsu, shoyu, miso and shio, and the regional styles. Most places seat eight to twelve and tours run six to eight guests for that reason. Vegetarians should say so when booking, because dashi stock is fish and hidden in almost everything; halal-certified options exist but are fewer.

Our guide, Đình, took us to some amazing local vegan restaurants and street food stalls. Riding on the back of a motorcycle during Ho Chi Minh City's evening rush hour was an unforgettable, thrilling experience that gave us a real taste of local life while enjoying the scenery. Đình guided us to hidden local restaurants that we could never have found on our own, and explained everything so thoroughly and thoughtfully. This is far from your typical tourist tour, and because they cater wonderfully to vegans, it is an absolute must-do. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience with lovely, knowledgeable local guides, who took us to some of the greatest places for authentic vegetarian/ vegan Vietnamese dishes. We loved being taken to different districts in the vibrant city to sample some delicious foods and learned a lot about how those are made.
