This is a 3.5-hour experience in Ho Chi Minh City. It is run by Saigon Alley 101, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Japanese food tours work because the best places are small, unmarked and full of regulars, and a guide who orders for you opens them. An izakaya crawl covers yakitori, sashimi, karaage and the local pours of sake, shochu and highballs across three or four counters in an evening; a ramen walk explains the broths, tonkotsu, shoyu, miso and shio, and the regional styles. Most places seat eight to twelve and tours run six to eight guests for that reason. Vegetarians should say so when booking, because dashi stock is fish and hidden in almost everything; halal-certified options exist but are fewer.

Absolute blast of a time! Michael, Wendy, and “bad boy” are super friendly and so easy to get along with. They took us to amazing food spots and back alley streets and told us amazing stories. Definitely worth the money, such a wholesome and fun time!

We booked onto the tour for our last night in Vietnam after a 2 week trip! We couldn’t have asked for a better last night. They really listened to what food we had already tried on our trip and went out of their way to take us to new local spots. All the food was incredible and the company was fab! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a food to in HCM!
