Arashiyama, on Kyoto's western edge, is the bamboo grove, the Togetsukyo bridge over the Katsura river, the gardens of Tenryu-ji and the monkey park on the hill above. The bamboo path is about 500 metres and is photographed empty in every guidebook because those photographs are taken before 7:30; by mid-morning it is a procession. Rickshaw runs, the Sagano scenic railway along the gorge, and boat rides down the Hozu rapids all start here. Autumn colour peaks in the second half of November and cherry blossom around the first week of April.

It was amazing. We enjoyed every minute of it. Even though the fisherman rowing the boat did not speak English, we still managed to communicate. We didn’t try it ourselves, but it was fun to watch other fisherman spinning their boats.

We absolutely loved our 18 yr old tour guide. She was so sweet and took great pictures of us. She showed us how to fish for crab and brought us around the colorful waterways lined with palms. Highly recommend!
It was fun, but if being honest was not the right activity for us but if you have kid's they would enjoy or if you want to have a go at being spun around on the bamboo boats (was optional for some additional VND). The food provided was very nice, made a great effort for my veggie options, and my husband really enjoyed his local meat/fish dish. Pick up and drop off was a bit disorganised.

It is very perfect! I love everything about it. All is great ❤️
There are so many of these companies that offer basket rides that I would not pick this company. They intentionally drop you off next to their restaurant and drinks bar and make you waif quite a long time. Im this humid and hot situation, you are going to buy drinks from them. Which they will make you wait even longer to get on the boat. Not a pleasant experienxe... just a waiting game to see how much more money they can make off you.
War eine lustige Abwechslung. Man sieht ein bisschen was und wird unterhalten. Sehr freundliches Personal.
It was a fun activity with some nice scenery! We took the option of doing the spinning basket at an extra fee (100K VND per person)! Our paddler didn't speak a lot of English but we could communicate with gestures and Google Translate!
