Japanese craft classes are taught by practitioners who have usually done the craft for decades, and they teach it properly: calligraphy begins with how to hold the brush and grind the ink; pottery on the wheel produces a cup that is fired and posted to you weeks later; ikebana teaches the three-line structure of a Sogetsu or Ikenobo arrangement; indigo dyeing and washi papermaking are done in the workshops of the towns that specialise in them. We had such a lovely time on this tour! Cycling through the peaceful countryside was a great way to see a quieter and more authentic side of Hoi An. We visited local families, learned about traditional crafts like mat weaving and rice paper making, and really enjoyed seeing how people live in the village. Our guide, Van, was friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience feel relaxed and personal. The home-cooked lunch was delicious, and the boat ride back along the Thu Bon River was a perfect way to end the tour. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to get away from the busy tourist a
