This is a 2-day experience from Sapa, built around Black cab and Sa Pa. It is run by Mimi SaPa Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Japan's outdoors is organised: trails are marked, mountain huts are booked, and the walking routes with history, the Nakasendo post road between Magome and Tsumago and the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage in Wakayama, are done in comfortable day stages with luggage forwarded. Cycling tours use the flat river paths and back streets that cars avoid. The summer heat from July to September makes early starts essential in the cities and lowlands, while the mountains are cool. Winter turns Hokkaido and Nagano into ski country from December to March, with the powder that Niseko and Hakuba are known for.

The trekking was insanely cool, the tour guides are very knowledgeable but honestly the cherry on top is the homestay experience. Mama Shu Shu is an unbelievable character, everyone really need to meet her and the dinner was probably the best food I’ve had in Vietnam. It truly was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend this to anyone seeking some fun and learning about the Sapa way of life.

Amazing experience!! Mama Shu Shu was a great host, she’s so sweet and funny. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with lots of happy water to follow dinner :) The treks were led by her son and daughter, who were both so kind and shared lots of information about their villages! Lots of great information, and they all speak great English as well! I have nothing but good things to say about Mama Shu Shu’s homestay, definitely do this if you’re in Sapa!

It was the best thing we did in Vietnam!! Mama Shu Shu and her family are the best. Lots of knowledge, good food and we laughed a lot together. The homestay is beautiful and they all have excellent English! I hope I can come back one day.
