This is a 8-hour experience from Sapa, built around Fansipan. It is run by Sapa Odyssey Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Japan's outdoors is organised: trails are marked, mountain huts are booked, and the walking routes with history, the Nakasendo post road between Magome and Tsumago and the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage in Wakayama, are done in comfortable day stages with luggage forwarded. Cycling tours use the flat river paths and back streets that cars avoid. The summer heat from July to September makes early starts essential in the cities and lowlands, while the mountains are cool. Winter turns Hokkaido and Nagano into ski country from December to March, with the powder that Niseko and Hakuba are known for.

The price covers Pick-up and drop-off at Sapa, local guide, Lunch and Medal and certificate upon completion. It does not cover Cable car tickets, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Fansipan mountain is the highest peak in Indochina and not to be taken lightly. The one-day trek to the top is an 11km hike with ascent, many sections of descent. Quite a lot of it is very steep and there are ladders, etc, some areas can be slippery. It was a physical challenge for me, a 30 year old who has done a fair bit of hiking. Even more so for one of the group who is 50 and pretty physically fit. I would definitely recommend the cable car down. The views whilst hiking up were incredible, but naturally there is a lot of cloud cover at the summit. The lunch was delicious, and cooked by ou

Very beautiful trekking (hard, with a lot of steps, cold in the winter - only for fit people), quite expensive in relation to the offer (taxi, guide, snacks and bahn mi for lunch); cable car return is quite mandatory and it is not included (add more than 30 euros/person). The guide Cho was kind.
