We had a workshop led by Hoang, and I have to say, it’s been a long time since I’ve experienced such a nicely run workshop. Hoang was very kind and patient. He explained everything to us and helped us. We managed to create two paintings. Also the place is beautiful, with a view of the mountains. They serve really good coffee and food there. Thank you for the wonderful and peaceful experience! :)

The batik workshop was a lot of fun! Our guide Chili was amazing, so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Our batiks turned out great! Overall, drawing on the batik with the beeswax was relaxing and fun but I think the price is a little steep considering we didn’t get to actually dye our pieces in the indigo ourselves. Chili explained the process to us and then took them home to dye and boil the wax off, then she dropped them off at our hostel the next morning which was very convenient!

We had so much fun in this class! It was in a beautiful setting with views of the rice terraces. The instructor Sisi was very nice and showed us how to do everything. We got to make a full batik piece including indigo dying using a design Sisi pre-drew. Then while our work was dyeing we had the option to draw our own design and wax it. The whole workshop lasted 4 hours to do the batik and dyeing not 2 hours but we were happy to spend the time there.

It’s cool activity for people who like art. I was just a little bit confused at the end, I didn’t really know what’s going on and for some reason we haven’t done the finishing step which is boiling the fabric and cleaning the wax 🤔 I had to go back home and read about the activity again cuz I felt like I’m missing something 🤔🤔

the guide was fantastic in explaining the culture of the dyeing process. she guided me through the understanding of using beeswax to first mark out the design before dyeing it in indigo. would definitely come back again for this process again. truly had fun in this workshop.
