Nara war Japans erste dauerhafte Hauptstadt, von 710 bis 784, und sein Park beherbergt Todai-ji, dessen Großbuddha-Halle eines der größten Holzgebäude der Welt ist und einen 15 Meter hohen Bronze-Buddha enthält, der 752 gegossen wurde, Kasuga Taisha mit seinen dreitausend Laternen, und etwa 1.200 Sika-Hirsche, die als Boten der Götter gelten und geschützt sind. We met our guide Eugene and we had a lovely walk around some of the main places to visit in Nara. Eugene took us to some places that had less tourists and we really enjoyed our trip out with him. Would definitely recommend.

The worst tour guide we've ever had! We've done eight guided tours during our stay in Japan. Our guide, Paul, provided little to no information on what we were seeing. For instance, we walked by a temple on our way to Nara Park and asked what one of the structures was for and he said, "Probably where the monks slept." All he did was talk about himself and his personal life. This is what he only talked about! Absoutely awful guide! All he did was snap a few photos and basically accompany us on the bus and through the park. We didn't need this, we wanted to learn about the culture and history. W
