Ella liegt auf tausend Metern in einer Luecke zwischen zwei Graten, umgeben von Tee, und zieht Menschen wegen eines Bergklimas und zwei bestimmter Sehenswuerdigkeiten an. Das ist die Reise, die diese zwei Dinge richtig macht, statt eine laengere Liste abzuhetzen.

Little Adam’s Peak eroeffnet den Tag. Fuenfundvierzig Minuten einen meist gestuften Pfad vom Stadtrand hinauf, leicht genug fuer die meisten Fitnessniveaus und fuer Kinder, und die Aussicht durch die Ella Gap zur suedlichen Ebene ist der Grund, warum die Stadt auf jedem Reiseplan steht. Im ersten Licht zu gehen ist keine Vorliebe: Die Luft ist in jedem Monat des Jahres morgens am klarsten, und gegen neun Uhr ist der Gipfel eine Schlange fuer dasselbe Foto.

Die Neun-Bogen-Bruecke ist die andere. Einundneunzig Meter Steinviadukt, vierundzwanzig Meter ueber einer Schlucht, errichtet waehrend des Ersten Weltkriegs in solidem Mauerwerk, weil der dafuer vorgesehene Stahl fuer Europa requiriert wurde. Ein lokaler Baumeister namens P. K. Appuhami wird weithin als derjenige genannt, der das Werk vollendete, und Sri Lanker erzaehlen diese Geschichte mit einigem Stolz.

Ein Guide lohnt sich hier hauptsaechlich wegen des Zugs. Der veroeffentlichte Fahrplan und die Realitaet sind zwei verschiedene Dinge, Zuege verspaeten sich routinemaessig um dreissig bis neunzig Minuten, und jemand, der an diesem Morgen am Bahnhof nachgefragt hat, weiss, wann man wo stehen muss.

Amitha was a wonderful guide; he provided information and took our photos. He took us to beautiful spots and took care of everything. I wish everyone could meet him. The Skywalk was fun; that path is great for climbing Little Adams Peak. We chose to go through Nil Diya Pokuna, which was a challenging route, but definitely worth it. It was a very fun and fulfilling tour. I recommend it.

Very nice tour with our guide Jegan! He was very friendly and explained a lot about the area and Sri Lanka in general. We got to see the main spots in Ella within half a day

Our guide was Jegan. He was super friendly, spoke very good English and knew lots about the history of the sites, the plants around and their uses and answered all our questions with ease! the tour was brilliantly done, the bridge is beautiful and we were able to walk across and Jegan timed our visit to see a train. We climbed Little Adams peak and ziplinned, as well as seeing the caves and swimming in waterfalls. The company was good at communicating and picked us up from our hotel. The tour was definately worth booking and our guide was superb and made the trip unforgettable. Extra thank you to Jegan for being so accommodating to us and looking after us. My mum had knee problems and he helped her navigate any steps, we could not have done the tour without him. He was super respectful, couldn't ask for anything more from a guide.

Jagan was great. We had fun tuk tuk rides to the waterfalls and little Adam’s peak. Jagan was really helpful and made the day fun. We then booked Jagan the next day to take us to a tea plantation. Would recommend

We had a brilliant day with Amitha and Pathum. Started with a hike and a scramble up Little Adam’s Peak and zip lining. We then joined hundreds of other people watching the train cross 9 arch bridge and listen to a local lady’s rendition of Barbie Girl. The day concluded with the most magical waterfall swim, jumping in from the rocks and a delicious lunch at a restaurant in the rice fields. The guides were excellent - stopping along the route to point out black faced monkeys and a mongoose. They were safe drivers and were very attentive. Recommend!

We had a wonderful day in Ella! We visited the Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam’s Peak and some beautiful waterfalls. Everything was perfectly organized, and our guide Ragu was incredibly kind and friendly. He was very flexible, never rushed us and was happy to adjust the itinerary to what we wanted. We really enjoyed the day and would highly recommend him! Thank you for a lovely trip!
