Ella is Sri Lanka's laid-back hill-country gem — a small town wrapped in emerald tea plantations, misty peaks and waterfalls, famous for the postcard Nine Arches Bridge and one of the world's most beautiful train journeys.
With a local guide you'll hike Little Adam's Peak and Ella Rock for sweeping valley views, time the train for the perfect Nine Arches shot, visit a working tea estate and factory, and cool off at Ravana Falls — all at the relaxed pace Ella is loved for.

Yes — it's regularly called one of the most scenic train rides in the world, winding through tea plantations, valleys and tunnels for around 6–7 hours (Nanu Oya/Nuwara Eliya to Ella is a shorter, equally beautiful leg). Sit by an open door or window for the views. Reserved seats sell out, so a guide can help arrange tickets, or you can do a shorter scenic stretch.
The Nine Arches Bridge is a 20–30 minute walk from Ella town through tea fields. Several trains cross daily — your guide will know the current schedule so you're in position when one passes. Early morning offers the best light and fewer crowds.
Little Adam's Peak is an easy 1–1.5 hour round-trip walk suitable for most people. Ella Rock is tougher — around 3–4 hours round trip with some steep, unmarked sections, where a local guide is genuinely helpful for navigation. Both reward you with spectacular hill-country panoramas.
