Das Tuk-Tuk ist das passende Fahrzeug fuer Ella. Die Gassen oberhalb und unterhalb der Stadt sind eng, steil und voller Haarnadelkurven, die Entfernungen sind kurz, und bei dieser Hoehe offen unterwegs zu sein, macht einen grossen Teil des Vergnuegens am Fortbewegen aus.

Dies ist die Halbtagesversion und deckt die drei Dinge ab, wegen denen Leute kommen. Little Adam’s Peak eroeffnet sie: 45 Minuten auf einem groesstenteils gestuften Pfad vom Stadtrand aus, leicht genug fuer die meisten Fitnessniveaus und fuer Kinder, mit dem Blick ueber die Ella Gap zur suedlichen Ebene oben. Gehen Sie frueh, die Luft ist morgens in jedem Monat am klarsten, und gegen neun Uhr steht eine Schlange fuer dasselbe Foto.

Die Neun-Bogen-Bruecke folgt. Einundneunzig Meter Steinviadukt, vierundzwanzig Meter ueber einer Schlucht, errichtet waehrend des Ersten Weltkriegs in solidem Mauerwerk, weil der dafuer vorgesehene Stahl fuer Europa requiriert wurde. Zuege ueberqueren sie etwa alle zwei Stunden und sind gewohnheitsmaessig verspaetet, deshalb ist es etwas wert, einen Fahrer zu haben, der an diesem Morgen am Bahnhof nachgefragt hat.

Die Ravana-Wasserfaelle schliessen den Tag ab, und anders als bei den meisten Stopps der Standard-Ella-Route gibt es hier ein Becken am Fuss, in das man hineingehen kann. Das Wasser ist kalt und die Stroemung nach Regen stark, daher entscheidet Ihr Fahrer am Tag selbst, ob es vernuenftig ist.
