Fast jeder besteigt den Little Adam’s Peak beim Sonnenaufgang, weshalb fast jeder um sieben Uhr morgens dort oben ist. Die Sonnenuntergangsversion tauscht eine Sache gegen eine andere, und es lohnt sich, das zu verstehen, bevor man waehlt.

Was Sie verlieren, ist Klarheit. Ellas Luft ist morgens in jedem Monat des Jahres am klarsten, und am spaeten Nachmittag ist die weite Sicht durch die Gap oft dunstiger oder, in den feuchten Monaten, voellig in Wolken verschwunden.

Was Sie gewinnen, sind Licht und Ruhe. Die Sonne geht hinter dem Grat untergeht statt in Ihr Objektiv, die Teehaenge werden fuer etwa zwanzig Minuten golden, und der Gipfel hat nur einen Bruchteil der Menschen. An einem klaren Abend ist es das bessere Foto; an einem bewoelkten das schlechtere Risiko.

Die Wanderung selbst ist dieselbe: etwa 45 Minuten auf einem meist gestuften Pfad vom Stadtrand, leicht genug fuer die meisten Fitnessniveaus und fuer Kinder, mit Betonstufen fuer den letzten Abschnitt.

Der Abstieg erfolgt im schwindenden Licht, und das ist der praktische Grund, einen Guide zu haben. Die Stufen sind uneben, nach Regen rutschig, und eine in einer Hand gehaltene Handy-Taschenlampe ist nicht dasselbe wie jemand, der den Weg kennt.

Ella ist ein Dorf auf 1.040 Metern in den Bergen des Sueden, erreichbar mit dem Zug aus Kandy, den die meisten fuer die schoenste Bahnfahrt Asiens halten, und seine Sehenswuerdigkeiten liegen alle nur wenige Kilometer entfernt: die Neun-Bogen-Bruecke, ein Backsteinviadukt von 1921 in einer Teeschlucht, das mehrmals taeglich von einem Zug ueberquert wird; der Little Adam’s Peak, ein 40-minuetiger Spaziergang durch Teefelder zu einem Kamm; Ella Rock, ein anspruchsvollerer dreistuendiger Aufstieg; und die Ravana-Wasserfaelle an der Strasse nach Wellawaya. Die Morgen sind klar, und an Nachmittagen der feuchten Monate zieht Wolken in den Pass, deshalb finden Wanderungen frueh statt. Tuk-Tuks sind das Verkehrsmittel, und jede Pension kann eines besorgen.

Non è un posto per il quale è necessaria una guida, tutta la gente saliva autonomamente e sopratutto non si paga nessun biglietto all’ingresso (visto che nella vostra didascalia viene menzionato il biglietto nelle cose incluse). Il ragazzo che ci ha portato su era anche molto gentile e disponibile ma non è corretto far credere ad un turista che sia necessaria una guida visto che non c’è niente da spiegare ma solo il panorama da vedere.
