Bitte vor der Buchung beachten: Die Abteilung fuer Wildschutz hat die Bloecke 1 und 2 des Yala-Nationalparks vom 14. September bis 15. Oktober 2026 wegen Trockenheit geschlossen, daher koennen Safaris in diesen Bloecken an diesen Daten nicht stattfinden. Die Bloecke 3 bis 6 bleiben geoeffnet, und Udawalawe und Wilpattu sind nicht betroffen; fuer Reisen in diesem Zeitraum kontaktieren wir Sie, um die Safari in einen dieser Parks oder auf ein Datum nach dem 15. Oktober zu verlegen. Udawalawe ist der staerkere Park fuer Elefanten; Wilpattu bietet ruhigere Leopardensichtungen.

Yala ist der Grund, warum Leute wegen der Tierwelt nach Sri Lanka kommen. Block 1, der fuer die meisten Besucher geoeffnete Abschnitt, hat die hoechste je erfasste Leopardendichte der Welt, eine Folge hoher Beutedichte und der Abwesenheit von Tigern oder Loewen, die mit ihnen konkurrieren wuerden.

Diese Dichte ist real, und das ist auch die Menge, die sie anzieht. An einem belebten Morgen in der Saison kann Block 1 dreihundert Jeeps halten, und wenn ein Leopard gesichtet wird, leuchten die Funkgeraete auf und Fahrzeuge kommen zusammen. Es ist der wahrscheinlichste Ort der Welt, einen wild lebenden Leoparden zu sehen, und es ist kein Wildnis-Erlebnis.

Ueber die Leoparden hinaus beherbergt Yala Lippenbaeren, Elefanten, Wasserbueffel, Axishirsche, Krokodile und ein aussergewoehnliches Spektrum an Voegeln, ueber zweihundert Arten, einschliesslich Nimmersatt-Stoerche und einen grossen Wintereinfall von Zugvoegeln.

Die Fahrt von Ella dauert etwa drei Stunden pro Strecke, weshalb dies ein zwoelfstuendiger Tag ist, der im Dunkeln beginnt. Die Pirschfahrt im Morgengrauen ist jene, die sich lohnt: Tiere bewegen sich im ersten Licht und suchen gegen neun Uhr Schutz.

Yala Block 1 schliesst jedes Jahr im September fuer etwa einen Monat zur Instandhaltung. Pruefen Sie das vor einer Buchung in diesem Zeitraum.

I liked my guide/driver. Very professional & I felt safe along the long drive. He made up for the lack of wildlife on that day. The jeep driver said: The animals are on holiday today. still, we saw some elephants, birds, peacocks & crocodiles.
