Die meisten Kandy-Stadttouren bleiben auf der Ringstrasse und besuchen dieselben vier Stopps. Diese geht zuerst hinauf, nach Wakarewatta auf den Huegeln oberhalb der Stadt, wo der Wald und der Tee direkt an die Strasse reichen und die Aussichtspunkte direkt auf den See und die Tempeldaecher blicken.

Ein Tuk-Tuk ist das richtige Fahrzeug dafuer, die Strassen hinauf sind eng, steil und voller Serpentinen, und offen seitlich in dieser Hoehe zu sein, ist der grosste Teil des Vergnuegens. Ihr Fahrer ist auch der Guide, was in Kandy meist einen wirklich lokalen bedeutet, der anhaelt, wo immer sich etwas lohnt.

Mittagessen ist ein richtiger Reis und Curry, sechs oder sieben Gerichte zusammen serviert statt eines, an einem lokalen Ort statt einem Touristenrestaurant.

Der Nachmittag kehrt in die Stadt zurueck: der Zahntempel von aussen oder innen, die Seepromenade, der Markt, und der Bahirawakanda-Buddha auf dem Huegel, falls Zeit bleibt. Es ist ein halber Tag, der sowohl das ruhige als auch das belebte Kandy abdeckt, was mehr ist, als die meisten Ganztagestouren schaffen.

Wenn der Zahntempel auf Ihrer Liste steht, wird die Kleiderordnung durchgesetzt: Schultern und Knie fuer alle bedeckt, und Schuhe und Huete werden am Eingang ausgezogen. Die Reliquienkammer selbst oeffnet nur waehrend der drei taeglichen Pujas, und die Schlange zu diesen Zeiten ist lang, Ihr Fahrer weiss, welche am besten in Ihren Tag passt.
