Wilpattu umfasst weit ueber tausend Quadratkilometer Trockenzonenwald nordlich von Puttalam, und sein Charakter kommt von den Villus, flachen natuerlichen Seen, die Wasser lange halten, nachdem der umgebende Wald ausgetrocknet ist. Tiere kommen zu ihnen, und ein guter Spurenleser plant die Fahrt um diejenigen, die gerade produktiv sind.

Diese Fahrt ist auf eines der beiden Randzeiten des Tages abgestimmt. Die Sonnenaufgangsoption betritt den Park beim Oeffnen der Tore, wenn das Licht niedrig ist, die Luft noch kuehl und Leoparden am wahrscheinlichsten auf den Sandpfaden draussen sind. Die Sonnenuntergangsoption laeuft durch die letzten Lichtstunden, wenn sich die Villus mit Hirschen und Bueffeln fuellen und der Himmel ueber dem Wasser am besten fuer Fotos ist. In beiden Faellen sind Sie etwa vier Stunden im Park.

Wilpattus Hauptattraktion ist der Leopard, und die Dichte des Parks ist respektabel, aber Sichtungen haengen von Glueck ab. Was Sie vernuenftigerweise erwarten koennen, ist Lippenbaeren-Land in den Fruchtmonaten, Axishirsche, Sambarhirsche, Wildschweine, Bueffel, Sumpfkrokodile an den Villu-Raendern und starkes Vogelleben.

Sie reisen in einem offenen 4x4 mit einem Fahrer, der auch als Spurenleser und Guide agiert. Das Fahrzeug ist Ihr eigenes statt eines geteilten Shuttles, sodass das Tempo der Fahrt innerhalb der Parkregeln Ihnen gehoert.

Die Haupterwaegung ist, wo Sie starten. Wilpattu ist weit von Colombo entfernt, grob drei bis vier Stunden Fahrt pro Strecke, daher macht eine Colombo-Abholung dies zu einem sehr langen Tag, zehn Stunden oder mehr, der grosste Teil davon auf der Strasse. We had a great experience with Tiger safari! Our tour guide and the driver were exceptionally kind and worked out so we could see most of the animals in Wilpattu. We booked the half day safari and we got the chance to see leopards, buffaloes, peacocks, monkeys, crocodiles and a lot of birds!

We saw almost every kind of species in the park. Our driver Yala and the guide Avishka were amazing! Really Nice people, who love their job, kind and very helpfull. We spent one of the best days in lifes… thank you both ❤️

It was a very good experience. You pay a little less than when you book at a lodge or something. Our ranger was young, but he knew all about the animals. Very friendly, and we drove through the entire park within the time. He even came to pick us up an hour early. Because of this, we saw two leopards! Very cool! Thank you 🙏🏼

The transportation went very well; everything was perfectly organized. The driver and live guide were very committed and did everything to allow us to see as much as possible. I even think they made a detour at the end so that we could see the elephants. I would definitely recommend it; it was great!

Today I had a wonderful experience at Will Pau National Park. The guide and his driver were truly attentive to my every need and answered all my questions. We toured the entire morning in the Jeep and were lucky enough to see several animals, including a leopard and an elephant. I highly recommend this experience.

The transportation from Negombo was great; a good car ride. The guide was able to provide us with a lot of information about the different animal species and always spotted them quickly so that he could show them to us.
