Nous avons pris l'option avec voiture climatisee et cela valait chaque centime. The car made Sarnath easy to reach and gave us a cool break between stops. Our guide's knowledge of Buddhist history at the site was excellent, and he timed the evening Aarti perfectly so we had a clear view of the priests and the flames.

A fascinating and well-organised day with a very well-informed guide. My only honest caveat is the crowds at the evening Aarti — it is genuinely packed and you need to hold your spot. The early start is also real, so go to bed early the night before. That said, the sunrise on the river more than made up for the lost sleep.

Booked the guide-only option and it was superb value at forty dollars. We walked everywhere through the ghats and back lanes, which is honestly the best way to feel the city. Beautiful, intense day and a lovely guide who clearly loves his city. Two small things: April was extremely hot by midday, so I'd suggest the car option if you visit in spring, and the walk down the ghat steps was slippery near the water. Neither ruined anything. The sunrise boat ride and the temple stories were the highlights for me.
