Subir a Sigiriya con la primera luz es una experiencia diferente a subirla a las diez de la mañana. Las escaleras estan frescas, las multitudes no han llegado, y la llanura plana de matorral abajo retiene una niebla que se levanta con la luz. Esa es la razon para aceptar una recogida a las dos de la madrugada.

La roca misma es una ciudadela del siglo quinto. El rey Kasyapa traslado aqui su capital tras arrebatarle el trono a su padre, y hizo construir la cima como un palacio con cisternas talladas en la piedra y jardines trazados simetricamente en la base. En el camino pasara por el muro de los espejos, en otro tiempo lo bastante pulido para reflejar, hoy cubierto de versos de graffiti escritos por visitantes desde el siglo octavo, y la bolsa protegida de frescos que muestran a mujeres de la corte en ocre y verde. El ultimo tramo sube entre dos garras de leon talladas, todo lo que queda de una puerta con forma de cabeza del animal.

Tras la bajada hay una parada para el desayuno en un restaurante local, luego un corto trayecto hasta Dambulla. Cinco cuevas se encuentran bajo un unico saliente rocoso, albergando mas de 150 imagenes de Buda y techos pintados directamente sobre la piedra, siguiendo sus hundimientos y protuberancias. El sitio ha estado en uso continuo durante mas de dos milenios, y reyes sucesivos añadieron y repintaron, por lo que lo que ve es estratificado en lugar de uniforme.

El desplazamiento se hace en coche privado climatizado con su propio conductor, lo cual importa en un dia construido alrededor de una hora especifica: puede estar en la puerta de entradas cuando abre en lugar de esperar a un grupo.

Sea realista sobre la duracion. La recogida es en mitad de la noche, el trayecto dura unas tres horas en cada direccion, y estara de vuelta en Colombo a ultima hora de la tarde o por la noche tras unas catorce horas. La mayoria de la gente duerme en el coche en ambos sentidos, y conviene planificar una tarde tranquila despues.

I had an incredible day trip from Kandy with this tour. Some previous reviews have mentioned it’s slightly on the pricier side. However, as a solo traveller this was perfect for me. My guide Munssinghe Nadeeja picked me up at 8am from my hotel and drove me to Damulla and Sigiryia. He’s a lovely man and gave really insightful history of Sri Lanka and the areas we were driving through. The price doesn’t include entry price or a guided tour of Damulla or Sigiryia- you do that yourself but Munny helps you with tickets etc and where to go. For Sigiriya, he arranged a Sigiryia rock tour guide to tak

It is an expensive taxi. Be aware of it. But the driver was ok and very nice to us. Therefore, there was no guide for the attractions. Nice trip to the cave and to the sigirya. If you want comfort and no worries, book it. Otherwise, you can use public transport or uber to get there.

Highly Recommended Day trip, Mr Lal (Driver) was the most amazing part of this trip. Took us to all the places, explained significance of the place. He made the trip more memorable with the polite and welcoming attitude. Full marks to Mr Lal. I would recommend people to get in touch with him and roam around when in Kandy. Be aware itinerary may change, we sweat buckets at lions rock but this was no problem as it was dry and still safe but we did anticipate climbing Sigiriya in the morning. Dambulla is amazing; our taxi driver took us up and helped us with ticket purchasing. We were able to communicate clearly with our driver over WhatsApp. He was fantastic and punctual and accommodating. His car was spacious and well conditioned. He had brilliant local knowledge and helped us learn a lot on our drive to Sigiriya. Offered to help us the following day with a transfer from our hotel to the station which was extrem

Die Tour war wie beschrieben und man hatte überall genug Zeit. Der Ausblick von Sigiriya war unglaublich toll. Der Fahrer konnte nicht so gut englisch, weshalb es zu Missverständnissen kam. Leider war das englisch des Office auch nicht besser, weswegen es etwas gedauert hat dies zu klären. Dafür war der Fahrer sehr flexibel als es um eine location für das Mittagessen ging.

Honestly, do not buy this tour! I would demand my money back if i could. We received no guide to any activity even thought it is said in the description that sigiryia includes a guide. Furthermore, this price service ratio is absolutely insane. Go to kandy, colombo or where you stay and you get a driver incl. Guide for approx 15000 lkr (50eur) for the whole group. Now we paid 50 eur per person and had no guide. Dont do it it is not worth! The driver was still amazing though! He helped us and tried to provide us with as many informatin as possible but he made it very clear that he was not a gui
