Ella es una ciudad de caminatas, y el error que comete la mayoria de los tours de dia es tratarla solo como eso. Este divide el dia entre los lugares de interes y la comida, que para la mayoria de la gente es el mejor equilibrio.

Little Adam's Peak lo abre con la primera luz, 45 minutos por un sendero escalonado para la vista a traves del Ella Gap. El puente de los nueve arcos sigue a media mañana, ajustado a los movimientos reales de tren del dia en lugar del horario publicado.

La fabrica de te es el puente entre las dos mitades. El te de Uva es genuinamente distinto: un viento seco estacional sopla sobre estas laderas de junio a septiembre y da a la hoja un caracter que los degustadores pueden identificar a ciegas. Una visita a una fabrica en funcionamiento sigue la hoja desde las artesas de marchitado a traves del enrollado, la oxidacion y el secado hasta la mesa de clasificacion en unos cuarenta y cinco minutos, y explica por que un solo arbusto produce seis productos clasificados a precios muy diferentes.

La clase de cocina cierra el dia. El arroz con curry esta mal nombrado en ingles, son seis o siete platos separados cocinados individualmente y comidos juntos, no un curry con arroz al lado. Usted ralla coco en un hiramanaya, muele la pasta de especias en una piedra, y cocina en ollas de barro sobre un fuego de leña que no se comporta en nada como un quemador de gas. Luego come lo que preparo.
