Esta es la version completa del dia en Ella, y las doce horas son honestas: comienza antes del amanecer y se extiende hasta la tarde, con recogida disponible desde Haputale y Bandarawela ademas de Ella misma.

Little Adam's Peak lo abre con la primera luz. Cuarenta y cinco minutos por un sendero en su mayoria escalonado desde el borde de la ciudad, y la vista a traves del Ella Gap hacia la llanura sur es la razon por la que la gente viene aqui. Hacia las nueve es una cola para la misma foto, lo que justifica por completo la salida temprana.

Halpewatte es la mayor fabrica de te de la region de Uva y una de las mejores para visitar, el proceso desde la artesa de marchitado hasta la mesa de clasificacion toma unos cuarenta y cinco minutos y termina en una terraza con vista sobre las plantaciones.

El puente de los nueve arcos sigue: 91 metros de piedra, 24 metros sobre un desfiladero, construido durante la Primera Guerra Mundial sin acero porque el acero fue a Europa. Los trenes lo cruzan aproximadamente cada dos horas y suelen llegar tarde, por lo que un conductor que conozca los movimientos reales del dia vale la pena.

Las cascadas de Ravana y la tirolina Flying Ravana sobre el valle cierran la tarde.

Ella es un pueblo a 1.040 metros en las montañas del sur, al que se llega en el tren desde Kandy que la mayoria considera el trayecto ferroviario mas bonito de Asia, y sus lugares de interes estan todos a pocos kilometros: el puente de los nueve arcos, un viaducto de ladrillo de 1921 en un desfiladero de te, que un tren cruza varias veces al dia; el Little Adam’s Peak, una caminata de 40 minutos entre te hasta una cresta; Ella Rock, una subida mas exigente de tres horas; y las cascadas de Ravana en la carretera hacia Wellawaya. Las mañanas son claras y las tardes de los meses humedos traen nubes al paso, por eso las caminatas se hacen temprano. Los tuk-tuks son el transporte, y cualquier alojamiento puede conseguir uno.
