Este dia esta construido sobre la observacion de que el pais del te se ve mejor desde un tren y se alcanza mejor en tuk-tuk, y usa cada uno para lo que mejor hace.

El tramo en tren de Ella a Haputale es corto, menos de una hora, pero cubre uno de los mejores tramos de la linea de montaña, siguiendo las curvas de nivel con el valle de Uva cayendo a un lado. A diferencia del largo trayecto a Nanu Oya, en este es facil conseguir asiento y no consume el dia.

Desde Haputale, un tuk-tuk sube la carretera de la plantacion hasta Lipton's Seat, a unos 1.970 metros. Thomas Lipton compro sus primeras plantaciones de Ceilan en 1890 y, segun cuenta la historia, subio a este espolon para contemplar todo lo que poseia; en un dia claro la vista se extiende sobre cinco provincias. La carretera de subida es estrecha, empinada y llena de curvas, y un tuk-tuk abierto en ella es el objetivo, no un compromiso.

Dambatenne, la fabrica que construyo Lipton, esta en el camino de regreso y es una de las mas antiguas en funcionamiento del pais. La visita sigue la hoja desde la artesa de marchitado hasta la mesa de clasificacion.

Las nubes suelen cerrar la vista de Lipton's Seat hacia las nueve o diez, por lo que este dia comienza temprano.

Ella es un pueblo a 1.040 metros en las montañas del sur, al que se llega en el tren desde Kandy que la mayoria considera el trayecto ferroviario mas bonito de Asia, y sus lugares de interes estan todos a pocos kilometros: el puente de los nueve arcos, un viaducto de ladrillo de 1921 en un desfiladero de te, que un tren cruza varias veces al dia; el Little Adam’s Peak, una caminata de 40 minutos entre te hasta una cresta; Ella Rock, una subida mas exigente de tres horas; y las cascadas de Ravana en la carretera hacia Wellawaya. Las mañanas son claras y las tardes de los meses humedos traen nubes al paso, por eso las caminatas se hacen temprano. Los tuk-tuks son el transporte, y cualquier alojamiento puede conseguir uno.
