Tenga en cuenta antes de reservar: el Departamento de Conservacion de Vida Silvestre ha cerrado los bloques 1 y 2 del Parque Nacional de Yala del 14 de septiembre al 15 de octubre de 2026 por sequia, por lo que los safaris en esos bloques no pueden realizarse en esas fechas. Los bloques 3 a 6 permanecen abiertos, y Udawalawe y Wilpattu no se ven afectados; para viajes dentro de ese periodo le contactaremos para trasladar el safari a uno de esos parques o a una fecha posterior al 15 de octubre. Udawalawe es el parque mas fuerte para elefantes; Wilpattu ofrece avistamientos de leopardos mas tranquilos.

Yala se encuentra al sureste de Ella en la carretera a la costa, lo que convierte el dia de traslado en el dia adecuado para hacerlo. Esta es la version compartida, que reduce el precio a una fraccion del equivalente privado para el mismo parque y las mismas horas.

El bloque 1 tiene la mayor densidad registrada de leopardos del planeta. Tambien tiene, en una mañana concurrida de temporada, unos trescientos jeeps. Ambos hechos son ciertos y debe reservar sabiendo ambos: este es el lugar mas probable del mundo para ver un leopardo salvaje, y no es una naturaleza virgen.

El resto del parque esta subestimado. Los osos perezosos estan aqui y son mas dificiles de ver que los leopardos, lo que los convierte en el mejor avistamiento. Elefantes, bufalos de agua, cocodrilos marinos, y mas de doscientas especies de aves incluida una fuerte migracion invernal.

El safari al amanecer es el que funciona. Los animales se mueven con la primera luz y se refugian hacia las nueve, y hacia las once el parque es solo jeeps y calor.

Tras el trayecto quedan unas dos horas hasta la costa, por lo que llega a primera hora de la tarde con el dia todavia utilizable.

We had an absolutely fantastic day! The pick-up and transfer overall was very smooth and reliable. The safari itself was absolutely amazing thanks to our experienced guide Srimal. He was not only fun but he knows exactly how to behave around the animals and how to spot them. As he really knows his way around the park we were able to see one leopard, many many elephants and all sorts of other animals. I highly recommend this tour and especially the tour guide Srimal.

I was picked up from the hotel at around 3 AM, and then it was a two-hour drive to Yala. The safari lasted about five hours, from 6 to 11 AM. I arrived in Ella between 2 and 3 PM. Both the driver and the safari guide were excellent. The pickup and drop-off time were arranged via WhatsApp the night before.

What an amazing day, being picked up in Ella just to be so lucky and see so many different animals, super amazed by leopards. To later being dropped off in Matara and finish the day with a beach sunset. Couldn’t be happier.

We started at 2.30am from Ella with a really nice car and arrived couple hours later to Yala. At Yala i was picked up to safari and after we collected few other people also, we drove inside the Yala park to see animals during the sunrise. We saw leopard, elephants, crocodile and plenty of other animals also. And like that would have not been enough, after we took a less than 2 hour ride to Mirissa and still had a whole afternoon and evening to enjoy the beach. Just a perfect day.
