Fushimi Inari et Nara apparaissent habituellement sur les itineraires comme deux arrets photo separes. Pris ensemble et dans l'ordre, ils sont quelque chose de mieux : une marche a travers les deux systemes religieux qui ont facomme le Japon, et le point ou l'un a absorbe l'autre.

La journee commence a Fushimi Inari, a la lisiere sud de Kyoto. Les senbon torii, des milliers de portes vermillon serrees assez pres pour former des tunnels sur le flanc de la montagne, sont la chose la plus photographiee du Japon, et presque personne qui les photographie ne sait ce qu'elles sont.
