Description complète

10/10 recommend this experience! Everything was perfect and didn’t feel rushed at all. Amazing and accommodating team. Just to note: You cannot enter Dambulla cave whilst wearing any sort of head coverings (including hijab) so just be aware before booking. It was still very nice to visit around the caves!

Well organised trip. We stayed in Negumbo and had a taxi organised for us to meet us at a meeting point with the rest of the group. Spacious mini bus with good air conditioning. Chathu was an excellent guide and gave us lots of information about the surrounding areas. Nishan was a good driver and made sure we had a safe trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about booking

Group trip from get your ride is a good alternative to individual tour if you travel alone nd struggle to find company. Guide was very friendly and supportive and worried about us being hydrated and provided water all the time. Sigiria and safari was realy beautiful.

We highly recommend this tour — we had the opportunity to take part in it today and were very satisfied. The guide was excellent: friendly, helpful, and passionate about what he does. He shared many interesting facts, not only those directly related to the tour itself, which made the experience even more engaging. Thanks to him, the tour was truly enjoyable. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth choosing this option — it definitely is! 😊

There’s no getting away from it - it’s an amazingly long day but well worth it ! i was picked up by a driver and taken to the bus on the main route so my day started at 6am and returned to hotel at 10pm - it’s varied and interesting day and our guide Chathu was excellent at guiding us but also telling us about the culture - extra costs are involved and these are clear in advance although some people appeared not to be aware - cave temple incredible ; walking up Sygirya hard but worth it (i thought i was relatively fit but struggled in humidity ) - i chose the safari tour and that too was excel

Excellent trip, our driver was very knowledgeable and gave us loads of information on Sri Lanka, and he was very friendly. Our son has asthma so couldn’t make the climb up Sigiriya rock, but he went out of his way to accommodate this and arranged a tuk tuk tour around the rock for him and my partner which they loved. I can’t remember his name though. I would definitely recommend this trip

Our guide was very helpful, my husband struggled up the steps to the Dambulla Temple so he waited for me, when the guide spoke to my husband he came to find me and even told me to wait by the last door as most people will go in the first one so it would be less busy. We then had a complimentary coconut drink. We didn’t attempt Sigirya, so were taken to a restaurant to wait for the others on the tour. We booked to go on the Minnesota Jeep safari, the organisation was brilliant - I would definitely recommend this tour just for the Safari. We had a brilliant day and made lots of brilliant memorie

The price does not cover entrance fees for sigiriya and dambulla, minneriya national park fees, meals and drinks, camera fees where charged, tips, and travel insurance.. Everything it does cover is listed in full on this page, so if something is not on that list, budget for it separately.
No, and anyone promising them is guessing. These are wild animals in open country. Early departures give the best odds because that is when animals are active and the light is good.

Roughly 1,200 steps, about 180 m above the plain, with handrails the whole way. Entry is around USD 30-35 for foreign adults — one of South Asia's priciest tickets — paid in cash. Climb at the 7am opening: there is no shade above the frescoes. Full detail in our Sigiriya rock guide.
It is cheaper and has the better view — of Sigiriya. What it does not have is the water gardens, frescoes, mirror wall, lion's paws or summit palace. For the photograph, take Pidurangala. For the site, take Sigiriya. Compared properly in our Sigiriya rock guide.
Roughly June to September, peaking in August, when the shrinking reservoir exposes fresh grass and several hundred elephants converge. Outside those months the herds disperse and you get a normal safari. Operators switch between Minneriya, Kaudulla and Hurulu depending on where the herds are — that is them doing their job. See our Minneriya gathering guide.
Five caves under one granite overhang, in continuous use since the 1st century BC, holding around 150 Buddha images and 2,100 m² of painting. The approach is a steep 15-minute climb; shoes come off at the top terrace, so bring socks. See the Dambulla cave temple guide.
Polonnaruwa if you have one morning — compact, cyclable in three hours, and the Gal Vihara is the finest sculpture in the country. Anuradhapura if you have a full day and an interest in living Buddhism; it is a thousand years older and still an active pilgrimage city. See Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.
Sigiriya is in the dry zone and follows the *northeast* monsoon — its wet season is October to January, the opposite of Colombo. Best months are May to September, which is also the elephant Gathering. See best time to visit Sigiriya.
Two nights in Sigiriya, Dambulla or Habarana. Day 1: the rock at 7am, Dambulla late morning, a 3pm safari. Day 2: Polonnaruwa by bicycle or Pidurangala at sunrise. Our Sigiriya 2-day itinerary sets out the order and why it matters.
December to March is the driest stretch. Colombo sits on the west coast, so it gets the southwest monsoon roughly May to September — the northeast monsoon (October to January) hits the *other* side of the island instead. Any guide describing one national "rainy season" is only describing half the country. Full breakdown in our best time to visit Colombo guide.
Tuk-tuks are everywhere — insist on the meter or agree the fare first. PickMe is the local ride-hailing app and usually cheaper than flagging one down, with no fare argument. The coastal railway south toward Galle runs along the sea and costs very little. See getting around Colombo.
Rice and curry is the everyday meal, not a dish — rice with several curries and sambols. Kottu roti is chopped roti cooked with a distinctive clanging rhythm on the griddle, hoppers are bowl-shaped fermented rice-flour pancakes, and lamprais is the Dutch Burgher dish baked in a banana leaf. See the Colombo food guide.
Pettah is the market district east of Fort, and its streets are organised by trade — one for electronics, one for textiles, one for hardware, one for spices. The candy-striped Red Mosque (Jami Ul-Alfar, 1908) is the landmark. Street-by-street in our Pettah market guide.
Galle is the easiest — about 2 hours on the southern expressway. Kandy is only 115 km but 3-4 hours each way on a mountain road. Sigiriya is realistically a 12-14 hour day and is better as an overnight. Honest distances in our day trips from Colombo guide.
Two days covers it comfortably. Colombo is not a museum city and most travellers pass through on the way somewhere else — our Colombo 2-day itinerary sets out a realistic pair of days.
