La plupart des offres de safari sri-lankaises omettent le permis du parc, et pour un visiteur etranger cela represente 25 a 40 USD supplementaires en especes a l'entree. Celle-ci l'inclut, ce qui merite d'etre verifie en comparant les prix.

Udawalawe se trouve a deux heures au sud d'Ella et c'est le parc fiable. Le trajet a l'aube est celui qui fonctionne, les animaux se deplacent a la premiere lumiere et s'abritent vers neuf heures, et vous etes de retour a Ella en debut d'apres-midi avec le reste de la journee libre.

Ella est un village a 1 040 metres dans les montagnes du sud, atteint par le train depuis Kandy que la plupart des gens considerent comme le plus beau trajet ferroviaire d'Asie, et ses sites sont tous a quelques kilometres: le pont aux neuf arches, un viaduc en brique de 1921 dans une gorge de the, qu'un train traverse plusieurs fois par jour; le Little Adam's Peak, une marche de 40 minutes a travers le the jusqu'a une crete; Ella Rock, une ascension plus difficile de trois heures; et les cascades de Ravana sur la route vers Wellawaya.
