Faire les deux marches d'Ella en une journee est une vraie entreprise, environ cinq heures a pied sous les tropiques, et c'est le voyage a prendre si la marche est la raison pour laquelle vous etes venu dans les montagnes.

Ella Rock est celle qui necessite le guide. L'itineraire commence le long de la voie ferree depuis la gare d'Ella, continue vers le sud-ouest pendant environ vingt minutes, puis quitte la ligne a un carrefour sans aucun panneau et plusieurs alternatives plausibles. De la, il traverse des terres de plantation ou les sentiers se divisent constamment, et des gens s'y perdent chaque semaine. Trois heures aller-retour, une longue montee sur un terrain accidente, se terminant sur une crete sommitale degagee avec une large vue sur l'Ella Gap.
