Les sites celebres d'Ella sont celebres pour une bonne raison et ils sont aussi, dès neuf heures du matin, pleins de monde. Les parties de cette journee qui valent le prix sont celles qui ne figurent pas sur la liste standard.

La boucle de Demodara est la meilleure d'entre elles. Le chemin de fer fait un cercle complet pour passer sous la gare qu'il vient de quitter, uniquement pour gagner de l'altitude, et c'est une veritable piece d'ingenierie de l'epoque ou cette ligne a ete creusee. Presque aucun visiteur ne fait le court trajet pour aller la voir.

La cascade secrete se trouve au bout d'une piste non signalee a travers le the et le caoutchouc en dessous de la ville. Vous ne la trouverez pas sur une carte, et en saison humide elle est considerablement plus impressionnante que les cascades de Ravana, qui bordent une route et ont un parking.
