La cuisine est la partie dont les gens se souviennent. Le riz et curry est mal nomme en anglais, ce n'est pas un curry avec du riz mais six ou sept plats separes cuisines individuellement et manges ensemble. Vous rapez de la noix de coco sur un hiramanaya, vous moulez la pate d'epices sur une pierre, et vous cuisinez dans des pots en argile sur un feu qui ne se comporte en rien comme une plaque a gaz.

Puis vous le mangez, ce qui apres une matinee de marche est le bon ordre.

Ella est un village a 1 040 metres dans les montagnes du sud, atteint par le train depuis Kandy que la plupart des gens considerent comme le plus beau trajet ferroviaire d'Asie, et ses sites sont tous a quelques kilometres: le pont aux neuf arches, un viaduc en brique de 1921 dans une gorge de the, qu'un train traverse plusieurs fois par jour; le Little Adam's Peak, une marche de 40 minutes a travers le the jusqu'a une crete; Ella Rock, une ascension plus difficile de trois heures; et les cascades de Ravana sur la route vers Wellawaya. We had such an amazing time with Sam taking us around the various places. He was such a great guide - kind and knowledgeable - and we felt relaxed and safe as he took us around. There were so many highlights of the day but the cooking and lunch was probably our favourite part. Sam could not do enough for us and even acted as chief photographer for the day! This trip around the sights of Ella was great value for money and we highly recommend. Thank you Sam.

It was such a great tour, we can absolutely recommend it! We were even able to adjust our plans a bit: since we had already visited one waterfall, we went to another instead. We arrived early at the tea factory and were the first ones there — completely on our own, which made it really special. Afterwards, we hiked up Little Adam’s Peak and took some amazing photos. The cooking class was super delicious and the people were incredibly kind. To finish off, we got to see the famous bridge and watch a train pass by. Best of all: the tour was led by wonderful local who truly grew up here.

The tuk-tuk tour was amazing. The drivers were very kind and open, showed us around Ella, and shared a lot of interesting knowledge about the local history and culture. They took us to a tea factory and made the whole experience fun and authentic. Highly recommended!
