A noter avant la reservation: le departement de conservation de la faune a ferme les blocs 1 et 2 du parc national de Yala du 14 septembre au 15 octobre 2026 en raison de la secheresse, les safaris dans ces blocs ne peuvent donc pas avoir lieu a ces dates. Les blocs 3 a 6 restent ouverts, et Udawalawe et Wilpattu ne sont pas affectes, pour un voyage dans cette periode nous vous contacterons pour deplacer le safari vers l'un de ces parcs ou a une date apres le 15 octobre. Udawalawe est le parc le plus fort pour les elephants, Wilpattu offre des observations de leopards plus tranquilles.

Yala et Udawalawe sont a quatre-vingt-dix minutes l'un de l'autre et ce n'est pas la meme experience. Faire les deux en une journee est ambitieux, et cela a du sens pour une raison precise: ce dans quoi chacun excelle, l'autre ne le fait pas.

Le bloc 1 de Yala a la plus haute densite enregistree de leopards au monde. Il a aussi, lors d'une matinee chargee en saison, environ trois cents jeeps, et les animaux sont dans un maquis epineux ou ils sont difficiles a voir. C'est la loterie du leopard, jouee avec les meilleures chances au monde.

Udawalawe est l'oppose. Des prairies ouvertes autour d'un reservoir, environ six cents elephants residents sans endroit ou se cacher, et des observations quasi certaines plutot que chanceuses. Presque personne ne voit de leopard ici.

Donc: Yala a l'aube, quand les animaux se deplacent, pour la chance. Udawalawe l'apres-midi, quand les elephants viennent boire, pour la certitude. Entre les deux, vous avez aussi des ours lippus, des buffles, des crocodiles, et bien plus de deux cents especes d'oiseaux.

Treize heures et deux permis de parc, ce qui fait de cette journee la plus chere de cette page. Elle convient aux personnes pour qui la faune est la raison de venir au Sri Lanka, et a personne d'autre.
