From the airport to Negombo

Meet and greet at Bandaranaike International Airport by your French-speaking driver-guide. Private transfer to Negombo and exploration of this coastal town, its fish market and local life. Participants can enjoy some free time before the end of the day.

Travel to Anuradhapura

Depart from Negombo with your French-speaking driver-guide and travel through the Sri Lankan countryside in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Continue to Anuradhapura, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka, with stops along the way depending on the weather and local conditions.

Heritage of the ancient capital

Discover the historic region of Anuradhapura and continue to Mihintale with your driver-guide. Explore the heritage and landscapes of this ancient region. Admission tickets to sites with an entrance charge are purchased separately by participants.

To the Cultural Triangle

Depart from Anuradhapura towards Habarana and the Cultural Triangle. Enjoy rural landscapes, villages, and the countryside during the drive in a private vehicle with your French-speaking driver-guide.

Sigiriya Experience

Discover the Sigiriya region, its landscapes and its villages with your French-speaking driver-guide. Guests wishing to visit Lion Rock or any other site with an entrance fee must purchase their ticket directly at the relevant ticket office.

Highlands Route

Head to Nuwara Eliya through the highlands. Discover the landscapes of tea plantations, the Ramboda region, and several panoramic viewpoints along the way before arriving in the town of Nuwara Eliya.

Scenic route to Ella

Continue towards Ella through the mountainous landscapes of Sri Lanka. A train ride can be chosen separately, subject to availability. The train is not necessary to continue the tour, and the ticket is not included.

Mountains and panoramas

Discover the landscapes of Ella and Haputale with your driver-guide. Explore the Little Adam's Peak area, Nine Arch Bridge, and the scenery around Lipton's Seat, subject to time. Any admission fees are paid separately.

Journey to Udawalawe or Yala

Depart Ella and continue south through the Ravana Falls area. Travel to Udawalawe or Yala and enjoy the natural landscapes. Any paid things to do chosen separately by participants are not included in the price.

Galle and the South Coast

Finish your trip on the south coast with your French-speaking driver-guide. Explore the historic Galle Fort, its streets, its heritage and the coastal landscapes before your final transfer to the agreed destination.

Time it for a puja — 5.30am, 9.30am or 6.30pm. Those are the only windows when the upper relic chamber opens and the hevisi drummers play; outside them you are visiting a beautiful building rather than a ceremony. February for the clearest weather, or July-August, which is drier here than most people expect and covers the Esala Perahera. Reserved seats open 30 days ahead and sell out within hours from December to March. Unreserved 2nd/3rd class is sold on the day and always available — you will stand, which is where the open doorways and the famous photographs are. Sit on the right-hand side going south. Sigiriya and Dambulla (2.5 hrs each way) is the best of them. Kitulgala rafting is 2 hrs, the Knuckles range and Pekoe Trail stages are day hikes from here. Ella, Galle and Yala are *too far* — 4-6 hours each way. See day trips from Kandy.
Two nights. One full day for the town — Bahirawakanda, Peradeniya gardens, the lake and the evening puja — and a second for a hike, a village day or the cultural triangle. Our Kandy 2-day itinerary lays it out hour by hour.
