2-Day Udaipur City Tour with Eklingji & Nagda (Saas Bahu) Temples
Discover the royal heritage, scenic lakes, and sacred temples of Udaipur on this 2-day guided tour. Known as the City of Lakes, Udaipur is famous for its magnificent palaces, beautiful gardens, and rich Rajput history. This tour allows you to explore the city’s most iconic landmarks along with a spiritual excursion to the historic temples of Eklingji and Nagda located in the countryside near Udaipur.
With a knowledgeable local guide and comfortable transportation, you will experience the culture, architecture, and traditions that make Udaipur one of Rajasthan’s most charming destinations.
Day 1: Udaipur City Highlights Tour
Your tour begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Udaipur. Meet your local guide and start exploring the historic landmarks of this romantic city.
The first stop is the magnificent City Palace, one of the largest palace complexes in Rajasthan. Overlooking the serene waters of Lake Pichola, this grand palace was built over several centuries by the rulers of Mewar. Walk through its courtyards, balconies, museums, and royal chambers while learning about the fascinating history of the Rajput dynasty.
After the palace visit, walk to the nearby Jagdish Temple, a beautiful 17th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is famous for its impressive architecture, detailed carvings, and spiritual atmosphere.
Continue your sightseeing with a visit to Saheliyon Ki Bari, also known as the Garden of Maidens. Built for the royal ladies of the palace, this peaceful garden features marble pavilions, lotus pools, lush greenery, and decorative fountains.
Next, explore the fascinating Vintage Car Museum, where you can see an impressive collection of classic and royal cars once used by the Maharajas of Udaipur.
In the evening, enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Lake Pichola, offering spectacular views of the surrounding palaces and ghats. During the boat ride you will also see the famous Lake Palace and the historic island palace Jag Mandir.
After completing the city tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel for an overnight stay in Udaipur.
Day 2: Eklingji & Nagda Temple Excursion
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the hotel for a half-day excursion to the historic temples near Udaipur.
Drive about 22 kilometers north of the city to visit the sacred Eklingji Temple. This famous temple complex is dedicated to Lord Shiva and dates back to the 8th century. It has long been the spiritual center of the rulers of Mewar, who considered Lord Eklingji their ruling deity. The temple complex features beautiful marble structures, ornate carvings, and a unique four-faced idol of Lord Shiva.
After exploring Eklingji, continue to the nearby ancient town of Nagda, once an important capital of the Mewar kingdom. Here you will visit the famous Saas Bahu Temples, built in the 10th century. These temples are known for their remarkable stone carvings, elegant architecture, and peaceful setting beside a lake and surrounding hills.
Your guide will explain the fascinating legends and historical significance of these temples while you admire the detailed sculptures and craftsmanship.
After the temple visits, return to Udaipur. If time permits, you may stop at local markets to explore traditional handicrafts, miniature paintings, textiles, and souvenirs that reflect the rich culture of Rajasthan.
The tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Udaipur, leaving you with wonderful memories of the royal city and its sacred surroundings.

Two really well-balanced days. The City Palace on day one was overwhelming in the best way, and our guide knew every corner of it. Day two out to Eklingji felt completely different, quiet, spiritual and away from the tourist crowds. Having the same car and guide across both days made everything effortless. Worth every penny for a private experience like this.
We loved the drive out to Nagda. The old ruined temples there were almost empty and our guide explained the carvings in wonderful detail. Eklingji itself was strict about no phones inside, which honestly made the visit more meaningful. Pickup from our haveli hotel was punctual both mornings. A thoughtful, unhurried tour that respected our pace.
Perfect for our family of four. The kids were tired by the afternoon of day one, so the driver simply let us rest in the car between stops and adjusted the plan. Vegetarian lunch recommendations near Eklingji were excellent. The guide was patient and never rushed my parents on the palace steps. Genuinely private and flexible, exactly as described.
A great two days overall and superb value for a private guide and car. My only gripe is that day two felt a little short compared with the packed city day, we were back by early afternoon. The Eklingji temple was beautiful but busy with local worshippers. Still, the guide was knowledgeable and the tolls and parking being included saved a lot of hassle.
January was the ideal time, warm days and no need to rush from the heat. Our guide framed the best photo spots around the lakes and palace for us. The countryside drive to the temples through the Aravalli hills was a highlight I hadn't expected. Everything from taxes to fuel was covered, so no fiddling with cash all day. Highly recommend.
As a bit of a history buff I got exactly what I wanted. The guide's stories about the Mewar rulers at the City Palace and the significance of Eklingji as their family deity tied the two days together brilliantly. Comfortable car, easy hotel pickups, and a real willingness to linger where I was interested. First-class private tour.
Lovely tour but do go prepared for the April heat, by midday on the city day we were flagging and glad of the air-conditioned car. The temples on day two were cooler and peaceful. Our guide was friendly and flexible about adding a Lake Pichola viewpoint. Just start early if you visit in spring and carry plenty of water.
Booking was straightforward and confirmation came quickly with our guide's contact. The mix of grand palaces and the quieter Eklingji and Nagda temples gave us a fuller sense of Udaipur than a single day ever could. Modest dress at the temples was no problem once we knew in advance. A calm, well-organised couple of days we'll remember.
