This is a 45-minute experience in Nara. It is run by 株式会社HASHI LAB, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Nara was Japan's first permanent capital, from 710 to 784, and its park holds Todai-ji, whose Great Buddha Hall is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world and contains a 15-metre bronze Buddha cast in 752, Kasuga Taisha with its three thousand lanterns, and about 1,200 sika deer that are considered messengers of the gods and are protected. The deer bow for the shika senbei crackers sold in the park and will butt anyone who teases them. Nara is 45 minutes from Kyoto or Osaka by train and is a half-day; Todai-ji before 10:00 is the quiet hour.

I really enjoyed this event. I went on my birthday with my family. The staff were very polite and would explain everything and help. I ended up with beautiful sticks with engraved words that I chose myself. The only thing you need to know in advance is that if you want to choose a harder type of wood and have engraving done, it will require an additional payment.
Our guide who was a young girl was amazing! She was very kind, attentive, spoke very good english, and helped us every step of the way individually. It was a great family activity and so fun for everyone. Easy to do and clear instructions. In fact, we were the only ones during our slot so it ended up being a private session. She was so kind to allow us to move our session to an earlier time too. Also, she gave wonderful recs of the nara area. 10/10 recommend to anyone!

Great experience making chopsticks with Haru. Highly recommended as an activity in Nara.
Making my own Chopsticks was very fun and there were so many nice options for the engravings. The staff was super kind and helpful all the time and helped me a lot to make exactly the engraving I wanted to have. I would reccomend this experience to everyone who likes to craft things or just wants to take home a very special Souvenir.
