This is a 1-hour experience in Nara. It is run by Kurabi, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Nara was Japan's first permanent capital, from 710 to 784, and its park holds Todai-ji, whose Great Buddha Hall is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world and contains a 15-metre bronze Buddha cast in 752, Kasuga Taisha with its three thousand lanterns, and about 1,200 sika deer that are considered messengers of the gods and are protected. The deer bow for the shika senbei crackers sold in the park and will butt anyone who teases them. Nara is 45 minutes from Kyoto or Osaka by train and is a half-day; Todai-ji before 10:00 is the quiet hour.

This was a great experience! Very relaxing and fun to work on a little figurine :) The guidance was clear and helpful, and as a bonus we got a bunch of tips on where to eat and go!
Had an absolutely wonderful time making these creations and just talking with our host in general! He welcome us with hojicha tea before we started and then walked us through the steps of how to mold our deer. From there we were able to customize our deer exactly how we wanted them to look and I’m very excited to receive them in the mail in a couple of weeks!
Such a fun and unique way to remember our trip. I went with my 10-year old so it was a nice shared experience and he enjoyed it as did I. The studio is a short walk from the train station but a little out of the way allowing us to see a side of Nara outside the tourist areas. The teacher was nice and patient and gave us some local recommendations. I can’t wait to receive the deer in the mail and see our final product.
Sehr interessanter Workshop, die Schritte wurden gut erklärt und vorgemacht. Man kann die Figur von Posen und aussehen auch sehr individuell gestalten, was im einem Unikat resultiert. Definitv ein schönes selbstgemachtes Souvenier, statt "nur" eine kleine Figur in einem Shop zu kaufen. Da der Kurs in einem sehr kleinen Kreis stattfand war auch Zeit für ein paar Unterhaltungen mit dem Kursleiter. Danke noch einmal hierfür. Freue mich schon sehr auf das Endergebnis! (Welches nach Hause geschickt wird)
