Full description

This is a 4-hour experience from Nara, built around Tōdai-ji, Tamukeyama Hachimangu and Kasuga-taisha. It is run by Regreen, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Nara was Japan's first permanent capital, from 710 to 784, and its park holds Todai-ji, whose Great Buddha Hall is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world and contains a 15-metre bronze Buddha cast in 752, Kasuga Taisha with its three thousand lanterns, and about 1,200 sika deer that are considered messengers of the gods and are protected. The deer bow for the shika senbei crackers sold in the park and will butt anyone who teases them. Nara is 45 minutes from Kyoto or Osaka by train and is a half-day; Todai-ji before 10:00 is the quiet hour.

The price covers This tour includes everything as described, All entrance fees to temples and shrines, Walking guided tour by bilingual local guide and Shopping assistance for your souvenir and purchase of food. Fumi was a wonderful guide and successfully shared his love for his city of Nara. Started the tour with a quick walk directly to Nara park to meet the famous bowing deers. Amazing to see the Big Buddha. Fumi provided very interesting history & religious aspects on how Nara was established. Highly recommend this awesome tour of Nara!

This tour was one of the highlights of our whole Japan experience. Nara is such a beautiful, peaceful and spiritual place. Surrounded by nature and infused with centuries of history, it’s a delight to explore on foot. Our guide, Fumikazu, was excellent. He shared many interesting facts about the places we visited. His calm presence and deep love for the place he calls home made the whole experience even better. Very grateful for this tour!

Fumi is an incredibly knowledgeable guide and also a very kind and friendly person. He took us through all of Nara park and adjacent sites (shreins, temples, ponds, etc). He is patient and takes time to answer all questions. Highly recommended!!!
