Full description
This is a 2-hour experience in Nara, built around Nara Park, Hidden gem and Tōdai-ji. It is run by Kurabi, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Nara was Japan's first permanent capital, from 710 to 784, and its park holds Todai-ji, whose Great Buddha Hall is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world and contains a 15-metre bronze Buddha cast in 752, Kasuga Taisha with its three thousand lanterns, and about 1,200 sika deer that are considered messengers of the gods and are protected. The deer bow for the shika senbei crackers sold in the park and will butt anyone who teases them. Nara is 45 minutes from Kyoto or Osaka by train and is a half-day; Todai-ji before 10:00 is the quiet hour.
The price covers Guided night tour of Nara, Observation of sacred deer, Visit to Todai-ji Nigatsu-do Hall and Lantern walk. It does not cover Transportation to and from Nara and Meals and drinks, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
行基菩薩像. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Kurabi before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Our tour was amazing and we absolutely recommend!! Definitely rest before and be ready to climb (many) stairs but it is so worth it!! The views were breathtaking and we stopped at places we didn’t know we could see. Our tour guide (cannot remember his name 😳) had so many fun facts and accommodated my very achy feet lol.
it was a lot of fun! The sights were breath taking and our guide was super knowledgeable and kind. Absolutely reccomend!
This was a lovely tour. The night views are GORGEOUS and the emptier grounds really let you feel the gravity of the temples presence. Our guide was very friendly and spoke wonderful English. He had so many interesting facts to share about the temples, and even took plenty of pictures that he sent to us later. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone new to Nara. One heads up, while I loved this tour it is a bit physically intensive so I would plan it for a day that you've been resting or doing light activity rather than a full day of running around the city.
Mike was an exceptional guide with a passion for Nara! I highly recommend this unique experience!
We had an amazing time. The tour was truly enjoyable, and we loved rediscovering Nara at night, less crowded and with a much more peaceful atmosphere. Our guide was incredibly friendly and shared many fascinating stories and anecdotes throughout the walk. We were enjoying ourselves so much that the tour ended up lasting longer than expected. Overall, we were absolutely delighted with the experience and would highly recommend it.
This was a lovely tour at night when it's far less crowded. I was lucky to attend when there was the Omizutori Festival occurring. Mike was a great guide who shared a lot of information and also offered recommendations for additional places I was visiting.
