Full description

This is a 3-hour experience in Nara. It is run by DeepExperience, Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Nara was Japan's first permanent capital, from 710 to 784, and its park holds Todai-ji, whose Great Buddha Hall is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world and contains a 15-metre bronze Buddha cast in 752, Kasuga Taisha with its three thousand lanterns, and about 1,200 sika deer that are considered messengers of the gods and are protected. The deer bow for the shika senbei crackers sold in the park and will butt anyone who teases them. Nara is 45 minutes from Kyoto or Osaka by train and is a half-day; Todai-ji before 10:00 is the quiet hour.

The price covers Guided tour of Nara's sake districts, Visit to four tasting locations and Sake tastings at three working breweries and 1 sake shop. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

DeepExperience, Inc. sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with DeepExperience, Inc. before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

The guide was very knowledgeable and even had paper handouts with info about sake on them. The sake itself was delicious and the places he brought me to were great. I even had the chance to befriend a deer.

Our guide Eri was knowledgeable and very nice, she taught us a lot about sake, considered our individual preferences and even gave us recommendations for Kyoto! We absolutely adored the tour with her. Only the price could be a bit less, as the Sake Tastings themselves at the breweries were considerably cheaper than booking the tour here. 10/10 for Eri though!

Hiro Takeuchi made this a wonderful experience. He was very personable, friendly and courteous. He was very gracious accommodating my Father in a wheelchair. We had an amazing time trying some delicious types of Sake native to Nara. It was a remarkable experience and definitely one to remember. I highly recommend this tour to get a feel for the neighborhoods in Nara as well as the local shopkeepers. 10/10 Will do again.

Literally the best tour we did on our trip to Japan! We have tried Sake before and done a few tasting sessions but Takashi & Juliette knew so much more than we'd been told and were awesome guides. We even managed to stop off at a local historical open house in-between tasting sessions that used to house nobility. We stopped at three breweries and got to try and very large variety of sake! All of which seemed very good quality. Then stopped off at a local bar for more sake and got to try sake lees soup which is a must! The location of the tour is picturesque and we also passed a lot of shrines

Amazing experience in Nara. We visited local spots we never would’ve found on our own, which made it feel really authentic. Yoshi was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and fun, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely worth it and highly recommend if you want something unique.

Yoshiki went above and beyond when guiding us around Nara. He met us near the Nara park, showed us around three different sake breweries and an izakaya. He was very knowledgeable about Nara and Japan history and shared a lot of interesting facts about the region and the country. Yoshiki also recommended us a great ramen place in Umeda and even took us there. He also recommended a tour around Kyoto because we might be missing out on a few places, which I’d love to do but I managed to get sick just before it 😢 Six stars out of five!

Satoshi provided a very informative tour into the history and making of Sake. We got to experience 3 breweries which were all a little different so provided for an interesting mix. We also got to learn a little history about Nara along the way & explored some traditional preserved local residential areas which we otherwise would not have found. Very professional service from Satoshi. We were very satisfied with the experience and highly recommend

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but the tour was fantastic. We were taken to local sake brewery’s and bars that you would not necessarily find unless you were local. I was really happy with the sake taste offering, we received mostly full glasses for tasting (sake cup size). The final stop we had an option for some small food which we opted for over the tasting only. Eri, who was our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. She took many photos for us and taught us all about sake in this region. I recommend the tour and feel it was good value for money. My only suggestion is to offer group tours in a

We went to some great sake places, enjoyed every minute. If you want personalised service with a smile, you can't go wrong with this tour, truly wonderful! Thanks Takashi ☺️

Thank you so much Takashi! What a beautiful afternoon 💖 We appreciated his knowledge, hospitality, and generosity in sharing Nara and the gift of sake! Takashi took us to a great range of breweries, added some extra activities along the way- he even helped us shop for items we hadn’t been able to find yet. We felt very blessed to be with him for a whole afternoon.
