Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
Travel from Kathmandu to the Ganesh Himal trekking gateway
Leave Kathmandu by road and travel toward Bhalche, passing through Trishuli and the scenic hills of Nuwakot. The journey gradually leaves the busy Kathmandu Valley behind as the road enters peaceful rural landscapes, terraced fields and mountain villages. Continue along increasingly rugged roads to Bhalche, where the trek begins. Meet the trekking team, settle into the overnight accommodation and prepare for the days ahead in the remote Ganesh Himal region.
Trek through forests toward the peaceful Gonga campsite
Begin walking from Bhalche along a mountain trail through forests of oak, rhododendron, pine and other Himalayan vegetation. The trail gradually climbs through quiet woodland with occasional views across the surrounding hills. Continue toward Gonga, a remote mountain camping area used by trekkers and local herders. After approximately 5–6 hours of walking, arrive at the campsite, enjoy dinner and rest in the peaceful forest surroundings.
Climb higher into the alpine landscape of Rupchet
Continue the ascent from Gonga toward Rupchet, following increasingly open mountain trails. As the elevation rises, dense forests gradually give way to alpine vegetation and highland meadows. The route becomes more remote and the surrounding mountains become increasingly prominent. After several hours of trekking, reach Rupchet, a high-altitude grazing area and important overnight camp before the Sing La Pass crossing. Enjoy the mountain atmosphere and prepare for the higher elevations ahead.
Explore the highland surroundings & prepare for Sing La Pass
Spend the day around Rupchet to allow your body to adjust to the increasing altitude before crossing Sing La Pass. Take a gentle hike around the surrounding ridges and alpine meadows rather than undertaking a strenuous climb. The day provides time to appreciate the remote Ganesh Himal landscape, photograph the mountains and rest at camp. Your trekking guide will monitor the group and help prepare everyone for the upcoming high-altitude section.
Continue across remote alpine terrain toward Sing La
Leave Rupchet and continue toward the Sing La Pass area through remote high-altitude terrain. The trail passes across open hillsides and alpine landscapes where permanent settlements are scarce. Walking becomes more demanding as you gain elevation, so maintain a steady pace and follow your guide's instructions. After several hours of trekking, reach the designated camping area near the pass and settle into camp surrounded by the dramatic wilderness of Ganesh Himal.
Cross the high Sing La Pass before descending to Serthung
Begin the trek toward Sing La Pass, the highest and most demanding section of the journey. Ascend gradually through rugged alpine terrain until reaching the pass at approximately 4,050 meters. Weather permitting, enjoy broad mountain views from the high point before beginning the long descent. Continue toward Serthung, a traditional Tamang settlement. The landscape changes dramatically as you lose altitude, eventually reaching greener terrain and village surroundings.
Descend through Tamang villages, forests and terraced fields
Leave Serthung and continue downhill through the rural landscapes of the Ganesh Himal region. The trail passes traditional settlements, forested slopes and cultivated terraces, providing opportunities to observe everyday village life. As the altitude decreases, the vegetation becomes greener and the climate warmer. Continue toward Laba, enjoying the changing scenery and quieter trails. Arrive at the overnight stop and relax after another rewarding day of trekking through the Himalayan foothills.
Follow forest trails toward the lower Budhi Gandaki valley
Continue descending from Laba through forests, small settlements and mountain farmland toward the lower valleys. The trail gradually becomes warmer and more heavily vegetated as you lose elevation. Along the way, enjoy views of rural homes, terraced fields and the surrounding hills. Continue toward the Dumchet or nearby camping area, where you will spend the night. This quieter section highlights the rural character of the Ganesh Himal region away from busy trekking routes.
Complete the trek and reach Arughat beside the Budhi Gandaki
Complete the final trekking section toward Arughat, following trails through the lower Himalayan landscape toward the Budhi Gandaki River. The route gradually leaves the higher mountain environment behind as you approach the valley and local settlements. Continue toward Arughat Bazaar, an important town and transport point in the region. Celebrate the completion of your Sing La Pass journey before settling in for your final overnight stay.
Drive back to Kathmandu after completing Ganesh Himal trek
After breakfast, board the road transport from Arughat and begin the return journey to Kathmandu. Travel through Nepal's scenic middle hills, passing rural settlements, terraced farmland and river valleys along the way. As the road approaches the Kathmandu Valley, the landscape gradually becomes more developed. Arrive in Kathmandu and conclude your 10-day Sing La Pass Trek through the remote Ganesh Himal region.
