Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
Meet your team and prepare for the trek
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, where our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, meet your trekking guide for a briefing about the Ganja La Pass Trek, including the route, altitude, weather, safety procedures and required equipment. Use the remaining time to rest, explore the nearby streets of Kathmandu, or make any final preparations before beginning your Himalayan adventure.
Travel through the scenic Trishuli Valley
After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu toward Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang Valley. The journey follows winding mountain roads through the Trishuli Valley, passing rivers, terraced hills, forests and traditional villages. As you approach the Langtang region, the scenery becomes increasingly mountainous. Arrive at Syabrubesi and check into a local teahouse. Your guide will make final preparations for the trek before you rest for the night.
Begin trekking through lush Himalayan forests
After breakfast, begin trekking from Syabrubesi toward Lama Hotel. The trail follows the Langtang Khola through dense forests filled with oak, rhododendron, bamboo and other Himalayan vegetation. Cross suspension bridges and walk through peaceful woodland while gradually gaining altitude. The route includes several ascents and descents before reaching Lama Hotel, a popular overnight stop along the Langtang trail. Enjoy dinner and rest at the teahouse.
Follow the valley toward Langtang settlements
Continue trekking from Lama Hotel through beautiful forested terrain alongside the Langtang Khola. The trail gradually climbs toward Ghoda Tabela, where the valley begins to open and the surrounding mountains become more prominent. Continue through alpine meadows and traditional settlements toward Langtang Village. Along the way, enjoy views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks. Arrive at Langtang Village, settle into your teahouse and experience the welcoming mountain atmosphere.
Reach the spectacular Kyanjin mountain valley
Today, trek deeper into the Langtang Valley toward Kyanjin Gompa at approximately 3,870 meters. The trail passes through yak pastures, small settlements, mani walls and prayer flags while the surrounding Himalayan scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. After reaching Kyanjin Gompa, explore the settlement and its surrounding landscape. On clear days, enjoy impressive views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa and other peaks before spending the night at a local teahouse.
Explore the high-altitude Langtang surroundings
Spend the day acclimatizing at Kyanjin Gompa before entering the remote Ganja La Pass section. After breakfast, take a gradual exploration hike toward a nearby viewpoint such as Kyanjin Ri, depending on weather, fitness and trail conditions. Enjoy panoramic views of glaciers, valleys and surrounding Himalayan peaks while allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. Return to Kyanjin Gompa, rest, prepare your equipment and receive a briefing for the upcoming pass crossing.
Enter the remote Ganja La wilderness
Leave Kyanjin Gompa and the main Langtang Valley trail as the route heads toward Ganja La Phedi. The landscape becomes increasingly rugged and remote, with fewer settlements and facilities along the trail. Trek across rocky terrain, high-altitude meadows and mountain slopes while gradually gaining elevation. The final section can be demanding because of the altitude & terrain. Arrive at Ganja La Phedi, establish camp or settle into available basic accommodation & prepare for the pass crossing.
Cross the 5,122-meter Ganja La Pass
Start early for the most demanding day of the trek. Ascend through rugged high-altitude terrain toward Ganja La Pass at approximately 5,122 meters. Depending on the season and weather, snow and ice may cover parts of the trail. With support from your experienced trekking team, carefully cross the pass and take time to appreciate the dramatic Himalayan surroundings. After reaching the summit, descend toward the remote settlement or campsite at Keldang for an overnight wilderness experience.
Trek across remote alpine landscapes
Continue the adventure from Keldang toward Dukpu through one of the most remote sections of the route. The trail passes through high-altitude meadows, rocky slopes, ridges and isolated Himalayan landscapes with very few permanent settlements. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings & mountain scenery as you gradually make your way through the wilderness. After reaching Dukpu, settle into the campsite or basic accommodation arranged by the trekking team & rest after the demanding days at high altitude.
Descend into the beautiful Helambu region
Today marks a major change in scenery as you descend from the remote alpine landscape toward Helambu. Follow the trail through forests, mountain slopes and traditional settlements while gradually losing elevation. The air becomes warmer and vegetation becomes increasingly lush. Continue toward Tarke Gyang, an important cultural village in the Helambu region. After arrival, explore the village and surrounding area, experience local mountain culture and enjoy a comfortable evening at a teahouse.
Walk through forests and traditional villages
Leave Tarke Gyang and continue toward Sermathang along a scenic trail through forests, open hills and traditional settlements. The route is generally more gradual than the high-altitude sections of the trek, giving you time to appreciate the changing landscape and local way of life. Pass Buddhist prayer flags, mani walls, cultivated fields and mountain villages before reaching Sermathang. Spend the evening relaxing at the teahouse and enjoying views across the surrounding hills.
Finish the trek and return to Kathmandu
After breakfast, descend from Sermathang toward the Melamchi area, enjoying the final views of the Helambu hills and surrounding countryside. Once you reach the roadhead, meet your waiting vehicle and begin the drive back toward Kathmandu. The journey provides a final opportunity to observe Nepal's changing landscapes, from mountain villages and terraced farmland to the busy Kathmandu Valley. Arrive in Kathmandu, check into your hotel and relax after completing the trek.
