A 2-day trip out of Kathmandu taking in Arrival in Chitlang Village, Chitlang to Kulekhani, Lunch and Afternoon exploration. There are 10 stops in all.

The running order is Arrival in Chitlang Village, then Chitlang to Kulekhani, then Lunch, then Afternoon exploration, then Sunset at village viewpoint, and on from there.

The price covers motorbike, 1-night accommodation, Breakfast and Lunch. It does not cover entrance fees, if any and Travel insurance, so budget for those separately. Two travellers pay $591 together rather than $370 each, because this is priced per party and not per head.

Departure from Kathmandu

Pickup from your hotel in Kathmandu (or Bhaktapur). Ride out via Thankot, climbing steadily out of the valley rim toward Chitlang.

Arrival in Chitlang Village

Chitlang is one of the last well-preserved traditional Newari settlements in the hills around Kathmandu, known for its slate-roofed houses, narrow stone lanes, and terraced farmland. Walk through the village, stop at a local teahouse for tea.

Chitlang to Kulekhani

Short ride/hike down toward the Kulekhani Reservoir, Nepal's first hydropower reservoir lake. Time for photos and a lakeside break.

Lunch

Local Newari thali or trout (Kulekhani is known for trout farming) at a village guesthouse.

Afternoon exploration

Visit a local trout farm, or walk to the Markhu viewpoint for views over the reservoir and surrounding hills. Optional: short forest trail walk if the group wants light activity.

Sunset at village viewpoint

Short walk to a nearby ridge for sunset views over the valley.

Dinner and overnight

Dinner and overnight stay at a local homestay or guesthouse in Chitlang. Campfire optional depending on season and group size.
