A 4-day trip out of Kathmandu taking in Scenic Drive to Kushma, Drive through the Kali Gandaki Valley, Visit Marpha and Muktinath and Visit Kagbeni and Dhumba Lake. There are 7 stops in all.

The running order is Scenic Drive to Kushma, then Drive through the Kali Gandaki Valley, then Visit Marpha and Muktinath, then Visit Kagbeni and Dhumba Lake, then Drive to Pokhara, and on from there.

The price covers private transportation based on group size (Car, Hiace Van, or 4WD Jeep) for the Kathmandu – Lower Mustang – Kathmandu overland journey, Experienced local driver familiar with mountain roads, Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and Visit to Muktinath Temple. It does not cover accommodation and meals during the tour, Personal expenses (drinks, snacks, shopping, etc.) and Tips / gratuities for guide and driver, so budget for those separately.

Scenic Drive to Kushma

Meet your local driver in Kathmandu and begin the overland journey toward western Nepal. Drive along the Prithvi Highway through green hills, rivers, terraced farmland, and traditional villages. Continue through Pokhara toward Kushma in the Baglung area, known for its dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge and suspension bridges. Overnight in Kushma.

Drive through the Kali Gandaki Valley

Continue the journey from Kushma toward Jomsom, following the Kali Gandaki River through Beni and into the mountains of Lower Mustang. The road becomes rougher as you pass waterfalls, rocky cliffs, remote settlements, and increasingly dry landscapes. Arrive in Jomsom, surrounded by the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri ranges. Overnight in Jomsom.

Visit Marpha and Muktinath

Drive from Jomsom to Marpha, a traditional Thakali village known for its whitewashed houses and apple orchards. Continue to Muktinath, an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Take time to explore before continuing toward Kagbeni.

Visit Kagbeni and Dhumba Lake

Continue to Kagbeni, an ancient village with strong Tibetan cultural influences and traditional architecture. Then visit Dhumba Lake, a peaceful high-altitude lake surrounded by Mustang’s dry mountain landscape.

Drive to Pokhara

Continue the drive from Mustang toward Pokhara, following the Kali Gandaki Valley. Arrive in Pokhara by evening and settle in for the night.

Morning Sightseeing in Pokhara

After breakfast, enjoy a morning sightseeing tour in Pokhara until around 11:00 AM. Visit Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, and Tal Barahi Temple on Phewa Lake. After the sightseeing, return to the hotel, collect your belongings, and prepare for the drive to Kathmandu.

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Around 11:00 AM, begin the drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Follow the scenic highway through Nepal’s hills, rivers, and countryside. Arrive in Kathmandu and finish the tour.
