A 3-day trip out of Kathmandu taking in Welcome, Activity Day, Farewell and Forest farewell and return transfer. There are 4 stops in all.

The running order is Welcome, then Activity Day, then Farewell, then Forest farewell and return transfer.

The price covers bus transfer from Kathmandu or Pokhara (if 3 or 4-day option selected), Private car transfer from Kathmandu or Pokhara (if 2-day option selected), Hotel pickup and drop in Kathmandu or Pokhara and Nature guide. It does not cover none, so budget for those separately. Two travellers pay $520 together rather than $325 each, because this is priced per party and not per head.

Welcome

You'll be picked up in the morning from your hotel in Kathmandu or Pokhara for the scenic drive down to the Terai lowlands (approx. 5–6 hrs by road), with lunch included on arrival. After dinner, a Tharu cultural program of firelit stick dances, performed by the community themselves. Overnight: resort in Sauraha · Meals: lunch, dinner

Activity Day

After breakfast, the wild day begins with a dugout canoe down the Rapti River — low and quiet, past basking gharial crocodiles. You'll land for a guided jungle walk, then head deep into the park by 4x4 jeep, scanning the grasslands for grazing rhinos and, if the day is kind, fresh tiger pugmarks. A stop at the elephant breeding center to see the calves, then time for afternoon birdwatching before returning to your resort at dusk. Overnight: resort in Sauraha · Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Farewell

Chitwan is one of Asia's great birding grounds, and you'll be out for it at first light on a sunrise walk while the canopy is at its loudest. After breakfast at the resort, you'll begin the drive back to Kathmandu or Pokhara, arriving by evening. Meals: breakfast

Forest farewell and return transfer

Guests at the Jungle Tower begin with a scenic morning drive back to the main lodge for breakfast. Enjoy a final farewell session through the forest before boarding your tourist bus back to Kathmandu or Pokhara.
