Absolutely the highlight of our Nepal trip. Taking off from Sarangkot with Fishtail mountain right in front of us was surreal. My pilot was calm and reassuring, explained the little run at launch perfectly, and I barely had to do anything. The glide over Phewa Lake was so peaceful. Photos came through the same evening and they're stunning.

First time paragliding and I was nervous, but the pilot made me feel completely safe. The Annapurna views from the air are on another level, especially Machhapuchhre. We caught a thermal and spiralled up higher which was a real rush. Hotel pickup from Lakeside was punctual and the whole thing ran smoothly. Worth every dollar.

Magical morning above Pokhara. We went up early and the sky was crystal clear, so we could see the whole Annapurna range and the terraced fields below. The landing near the lake was gentle and easy. My pilot filmed the entire flight and shared the video before we even got back to the hotel. Unforgettable experience.

Genuinely brilliant flight and the views of the Himalayas are unreal. Only reason it's four stars is the wait. The four hours is mostly transfers and standing on the hill waiting for the right wind, and the actual air time was about 20 minutes. Once you're flying though, none of that matters. Bring a jacket, Sarangkot is chilly in the morning.

One of the best things I've ever done. Gliding silently over the valley with the snow peaks glowing was breathtaking. The safety briefing was thorough and the equipment felt new and well maintained. I get travel sick but told my pilot and he kept it smooth for me. The included photos saved us a fortune compared to other operators.

Did this in clear winter conditions and the visibility was insane, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli looked close enough to touch. The drive up the winding Sarangkot road is an adventure in itself. Launch was quick, a few steps and suddenly you're airborne over Pokhara. Landing by Phewa Lake was smooth as anything. Highly recommend a morning slot.

Wonderful experience overall and the pilots clearly know what they're doing. Our first attempt got postponed because of wind, which was frustrating with a tight schedule, but they rebooked us for the next morning and it was worth the wait. The Fishtail views from above were incredible. Just build a spare day into your Pokhara plans in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

Flew tandem for my birthday and it exceeded every expectation. The pilot was friendly and professional, pointed out all the peaks and even the villages below us. The whole flight felt safe yet thrilling. Pickup and drop-off in Lakeside made it stress-free, and getting the photos and video included meant I could just enjoy the moment. Do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

You take off from Sarangkot hill, Nepal's most famous paragliding launch point sitting high above Pokhara Valley. After gliding over the valley, terraced farmland and villages, you enjoy a smooth landing near Phewa Lake in the Lakeside area. The whole flight is guided by your certified tandem pilot, so you never need any prior experience.
The full experience is billed as a 4-hour tour, which covers hotel pickup, the drive up to Sarangkot, the safety briefing, waiting for the right wind conditions, and drop-off afterwards. Actual airtime for a standard tandem flight is typically around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the day's thermals and weather. Most of the four hours is logistics and transfers, not flying.
The single option, Pokhara: Tandem Paragliding with Annapurna Views ($100), covers your tandem flight with a licensed pilot, all certified paragliding equipment, the safety briefing, and basic insurance as per local aviation regulations. It also includes hotel pickup and drop-off in the Lakeside area and transport to and from the launch and landing points. Photos and videos of your flight are included too, so you don't pay any hidden GoPro fee on the hill.
Yes. Photos and videos of the flight are included in the $100 price, captured by your pilot on a camera mounted to the wing or a selfie stick during the flight. This is a genuine perk, as many operators charge extra for footage on the day. Ask your pilot how you'll receive the files, usually via a memory card, AirDrop or a messaging app after you land.
Yes, hotel pickup and drop-off is included for hotels in the Pokhara Lakeside area. Your driver takes you up the winding road to Sarangkot and brings you back to Lakeside after the flight. If you're staying outside Lakeside, message us before booking so we can confirm whether a pickup can be arranged or where to meet.
Morning flights are the most popular because the air is calmest and the Annapurna range, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), is clearest before midday haze builds up. The prime paragliding season runs roughly late September to early December and February to April, when skies are stable and mountain visibility is best. Monsoon months (June to August) often see cancellations due to cloud and rain.
On a clear day you'll see the Annapurna range, including Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) whose twin summit dominates the skyline. You'll also look down on Phewa Lake, the city of Pokhara, forests and terraced hillsides. Visibility depends on weather, so book a morning slot in clear season for the best chance of full Himalayan views.
Your flight is with a certified, experienced tandem pilot using certified paragliding equipment, and you receive a full safety briefing before launch. The tour includes basic insurance as per local aviation regulations. Flights only go ahead in suitable wind and weather, and pilots will postpone or reschedule rather than fly in unsafe conditions, which is the single biggest safety factor in Pokhara.
Paragliding itself requires very little fitness, but the launch involves a short run of a few steps down the Sarangkot slope alongside your pilot until the wing lifts you off the ground. You need to be able to jog a few paces on uneven grass and follow the pilot's instructions. Sarangkot terrain is a hillside, so wear closed shoes with grip. Anyone with recent injuries, back or heart conditions should check with a doctor first.
Tandem paragliding is generally suitable for a wide range of ages since the pilot does all the technical work, and many older and younger travelers fly happily from Sarangkot. There are usually minimum age and weight requirements set by the operator for safety, so please message us with the traveler's age and weight before booking so we can confirm. Anyone prone to motion sickness may want to take precautions, as thermals can make the ride bumpy.
Wear closed, comfortable shoes with grip for the launch, plus a light jacket, as it's cooler at altitude and in the morning air on Sarangkot. Sunglasses (secured), sunscreen and something to tie back long hair are all sensible. Your pilot provides the harness and helmet, so you don't need special gear. Avoid loose items in your pockets, and phones are best left secured or handed to the pilot to avoid dropping them mid-flight.
The takeoff and gentle gliding are usually calm and smooth, and many first-timers describe it as peaceful rather than frightening. If your pilot uses thermal currents to gain altitude, or does spirals for a thrill, it can feel more intense, so just tell your pilot in advance if you'd prefer a mellow flight. If you're prone to motion sickness, take a light meal beforehand and consider medication, since the swirling turns are what usually trigger nausea.
Paragliding is entirely weather-dependent, and flights are only run in safe wind and visibility conditions. If conditions aren't suitable, the operator will typically try to reschedule you to a later slot or another day, or arrange a refund per the cancellation policy. Building a buffer day into your Pokhara itinerary is smart during shoulder seasons so a weather delay doesn't cost you your only chance to fly.
Absolutely, and it pairs beautifully with a sunrise trip. Many travelers do the Sarangkot Sunrise tour to watch the sun light up the Annapurnas from the same hill, then return later for the flight, or fly on a separate morning. Since both use the Sarangkot area, it's an easy combination to build a full Pokhara adventure day around.
Book online by selecting the Pokhara: Tandem Paragliding with Annapurna Views ($100) option and your preferred date, and we'll confirm your slot and pickup details. Because flying depends on weather, your final flight time on the day is confirmed once conditions are assessed. If you're also planning the Sarangkot Sunrise trip, mention it when booking so we can help coordinate both around the best weather windows.
