Traveler Reviews
Getting up at half four hurt, but the moment the sun hit Fishtail and turned it pink I forgot all about it. The driver picked us up right outside our Lakeside hotel and the whole thing felt calm and unhurried. No trekking, just a short stroll to the platform. Worth every bit of the early alarm.
A wonderfully efficient morning. The private vehicle was clean and warm, which mattered because it was genuinely cold up there before dawn. We had a clear view across the whole Annapurna range and down onto Phewa Lake. For thirty dollars this is honestly one of the best value experiences we had in Nepal.
Stunning views and a smooth pickup, no complaints there. My only heads-up is the viewpoint got fairly crowded with other groups by sunrise, so you have to angle around people for the best photos. Still, the panorama over the valley was breathtaking and the short walk up was easy enough for my parents.
We booked this on a whim the night before and it was the highlight of Pokhara. Watching Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South light up while the valley below was still in shadow is something I will not forget. The driver knew exactly where to stop for photos. Bring warm layers, it is chilly at the top.
Perfect little tour for anyone who does not want to trek. The car took us almost to the summit and then it was just a few minutes on foot. December mornings were crisp and completely cloud free, so the mountains looked razor sharp. We paid the small entry fee in cash at the top, which was easy to sort.
As a keen photographer this delivered exactly what I wanted. Arriving before first light let me set up for the changing colours as the sun rose over the Himalayas. The private setup meant I could take my time rather than being rushed back to the van. Phewa Lake in the distance was the perfect finishing touch.
Beautiful sunrise and a comfortable air-conditioned ride. Be aware the drive up is winding and quite early, which our kids found a bit much before breakfast. Once we were there though the views of the snow peaks made it all worthwhile, and the walk to the viewpoint was short and manageable for everyone.
Even in late spring with a little haze the experience was magical. The layers of mist over the valley slowly lifting to reveal the Annapurnas felt almost cinematic. Pickup from Lakeside was punctual and the guide was reassuring in the dark early hours. A gentle, accessible way to see the Himalayas without a hard hike.
