Kandy to Sigiriya Guided Day Tour by Luxury Car
Full description
The village safari is the part of this day that people do not expect to like and usually remember best. It runs through farming country near the rock — a bullock cart along a track, a catamaran crossing on a tank, a walk through paddy land, and a meal cooked in a village house.
Before that, the day does the standard run north: the Sri Muthumariamman Hindu temple in Matale with its painted gopuram, and the Dambulla cave temples, five caves under a granite overhang painted floor to ceiling with around 150 Buddha images.
Sigiriya is the climb — 1,200 steps up a 200-metre granite plug to a fifth-century royal citadel, past the frescoes of the mirror wall and the lion's paws.
Doing all of that from Kandy by tuk-tuk makes for a long day and a much less insulated one than a van. You feel the heat, you see the villages between the sites rather than watching them through glass, and the driver is a guide rather than a chauffeur.
Timing matters more than anything else on this day. Sigiriya's 1,200 steps are open metal and rock with almost no shade, and by late morning both the heat and the queue on the stairways are serious — an early start is the whole difference between a good climb and an ordeal. At Dambulla shoulders and knees must be covered and shoes come off at the entrance, and by midday the stone courtyard is hot enough to hurt, so carry socks. Kandy to Sigiriya is around three hours each way by tuk-tuk; this is a long day by design.

Hello our Guide was Dhanu he was very safe in driving and took us to the places we want. The day was wonderful with a lot information about the country and the places we went. We are thankful to had him on this trip and for the nice day we had.
Dhanu was amazing. He asked us where we wanted to go & see with no pressure for anything. He waited patiently at each stop and we felt no pressure to hurry or rush. He gave us recommendations about when was a good time to climb the rock due to the heat, keeping us in good supply of water and assisting us with conversations at the locations. At each location he would take loads of photos of us, and send immediately. We would definitely recommend!
I had a great big adventures day! Malik was my tour guide and I was very happy. Suggested and asked the things I wanted to do along the way. Because it was an early start, he also stopped so I could get food and toilet breaks along the way. He was also the best photographer, capturing every moment! Towards the end of the tour we also stopped somewhere and he gave me a Sri Lankan treat. Happy with my day
Tharanga is a very skilled, professional driver. He is also so caring and friendly. He didn’t even hesitate to stop at different places for us to take photos and enjoy the views, answered millions of questions and explained a lot of interesting things. On the way back home he stopped at the market in Dambulla so that we can buy local fruits. So, in short, it was a wonderful trip full of experiences and joyful moments😊
I had Tharanga as a guide and we had a blast of a day with him. He answered all the questions, was always on time and was very polite and insightful. Thanks for the great day and memories.
It was all perfect! Our guide Malik was very kind and awesome! We had chosen the stops at the beginning of the tour and it was incredible! Also he helped us to find a way to reach trincomalee at the end of the tour… it was a beautiful day!
A great trip with a fantastic driver and guide Dhanu. He showed us and told us about the most important attractions in Sigiriya and the surrounding area. I highly recommend it, you'll be satisfied, I guarantee it🤗
Our guide was Dhanu, and the day we spent with him was spectacular. During the journey to Dambulla and Sigiriya, he showed us and explained the wonders we encountered along the way. Dhanu was always helpful, kind, friendly and personable. Highly recommended.
This is a great day trip option from Kandy. My tour guide Dhanu took care of everything. The itinerary includes basic must do things in Sigiriya if you are a little short on time. The route was very scenic and Dhanu stopped at many points for me to take pictures. Overall I would recommend this trip to everyone solo or couple for the amazing tuk tuk experience.
Dhanu made us the best day ever. We would highly recommend him because of his bright knowledge and good stories about Sri Lanka. It was very fun to make a tuk tuk tour with him. If possible, we would give him 12/10 points. We can choose what we wanted to do and he gave us a lot of options. Thank you for this absolutely amazing day!
