Osaka se construyo sobre agua. La llamaban la ciudad de los mil puentes, y su riqueza venia de canales que transportaban arroz y mercancias mucho antes de los ferrocarriles. Dotonbori es en si mismo un canal - excavado en 1612 por un comerciante que murio antes de que se terminara - y la franja que todos fotografian es en realidad una orilla de rio.

Estas dos horas lo hacen comprensible. Comienza con un paseo guiado por Dotonbori y las calles circundantes, explicando como el barrio se convirtio en el distrito de entretenimiento, que anuncian realmente los enormes carteles mecanicos, y por que el hombre corredor de Glico ha estado ahi desde 1935. Luego suben a bordo para el crucero fluvial, y el neon hace lo que esta disenado para hacer - toda la franja esta construida para verse reflejada en el agua, y desde un bote al nivel de la cubierta, la escala de los carteles es completamente diferente.

El boleto del crucero esta incluido en el precio, asi que no hay nada mas que pagar en el muelle. Los grupos son limitados y el guia trabaja en ingles.

Tambien ofrecemos un crucero nocturno privado en Osaka a un precio considerablemente mas alto para quienes quieren el bote solo para ellos. Esta es la version compartida y es la mejor opcion si lo que buscan es principalmente la vista y el contexto en lugar de la exclusividad - cuesta mucho menos e incluye el paseo guiado que el charter privado no incluye.

The cruise was a fun introductory activity into the neon lights of Dotonbori with some insight into the area. Definitely worth the cost as you get to see the famous strip from the river. Best to book an evening slot so you get the bright lights and buzzing.

Our guide Shebu (I hope I'm spelling his name right) was great. He was super friendly and accommodating and very knowledgeable about Osaka. The guide during the cruise was hilarious. Highly recommend this tour if you need a crash course on the Dotonbori area.
