This is the real deal, not a touristy dress up for photos etc. I booked a 4 hour experience. It was a one to one lesson learning a number of foundation sword skills. As someone who has studied martial arts for over 40 years the instruction was excellent and specific to my needs. For those who want a genuine Samurai sword training experience I can 100% recommend this. The guide and translator was also brilliant, sharing history, culture and showing me around the temple.

It was a great and very authentic experience. Watanabe San is very passionate about his craft and explains it very well in the short amount of time we have. It’s a cultural experience as much as it’s about the swordsmanship. Highly recommended for anyone who is looking for things off the beaten path and wants to learn more about Japan, its culture and history!

A wonderful and remarkable experience. Our guide and translator Ben, was able to meet us at the station, provide insight and fascinating history tidbits of the area where we were. This was an amazing experience and insight into Japanese sword tradition. Our guide, Benoit, was great and the perfect interpreter. He also showed us around the temple a bit more after the experience ended which was a nice way to end the day.
