Our guide made the 800-year-old fort come alive. He walked us through Ganesh Pol and Suraj Pol explaining how the gates were defended, then showed us corners of the Jain temples we'd never have found alone. What struck me most was how he explained everyday life of the families still living inside. Worth far more than the price we paid.

Booked the private guide and it was the best decision of our Rajasthan trip. Three hours flew by. A really informative tour and our guide was knowledgeable and patient. My only honest note is that the midday heat inside the fort was brutal in September, so I'd strongly suggest an early morning slot instead. Once we got into the shaded lanes and temples it was wonderful, and he helped us dodge the pushy shop sellers.

Lovely, well-informed guide and a genuinely fascinating fort. The one small thing is that three hours felt a touch rushed toward the end as we tried to fit in both the palace and all the temples, so we skimmed the markets a little. Still, we learned so much and the desert viewpoints were unforgettable. Wear proper shoes, the stones are uneven.
