Our guide made the fort come alive with stories about the families who still live inside its walls. We wandered lanes we'd never have found alone and ended up at Gadisar Lake just as the light turned golden. Three hours flew by. Easily the best introduction to Jaisalmer we could have hoped for, and superb value at twenty dollars.
Patwon Ki Haveli left me speechless, the stone carving is unbelievable up close, and our guide explained every detail with real passion. He knew exactly which corners to photograph and helped us bargain for a small textile in the bazaar. Relaxed pace, no rushing, and genuinely warm. A wonderful morning in the Golden City.
A lovely, informative walk with a very knowledgeable guide who clearly loves his city. My only note is that by late morning the climb up to the fort got quite hot, so do book an early start if you can. The market section was colourful and fun. Bring water and a hat and you'll thoroughly enjoy it.
We did this as a family with two teenagers and everyone was hooked. The fort's maze of alleys, the Jain temples, the cows wandering past the shops, it was all fascinating. Our guide tailored the stories to keep the kids engaged and never made us feel hurried. Fantastic way to spend a morning and great value.
January weather was perfect for this walk and the guide was outstanding. He pointed out details on the havelis I'd have walked straight past and gave real context to the fort's history. The visit to Gadisar Lake was a peaceful finish. Highly organised, punctual, and clearly a passionate local. I recommend it without hesitation.
Booked this the day before and it was seamless. Meeting point was easy to find just below the fort. Our guide balanced the big landmarks with little human stories, and he steered us away from a couple of pushy shopkeepers with a laugh. Loved learning about the artisans in the bazaar. Really enjoyable and our guide was excellent, patient and full of knowledge. The lanes inside the fort are uneven and there are a few steps, so wear proper shoes rather than sandals. It did get busy near the main temple around mid-morning. Still, a beautiful walk and the perfect way to understand Jaisalmer before exploring on your own.
Three hours with a guide who treated the fort like his own home. We saw living Jaisalmer, not just monuments, kids playing, women dyeing cloth, tiny temples tucked between houses. The Patwon Ki Haveli stop was a highlight and the golden light on the sandstone was magical. Warm, unhurried and superb value. Do this on your first day here.
